--Called an MSRP (Military Stress Recovery Project) clinic. These clinics were started originally by Acupuncturists Without Borders (see acuwithoutborders.org and go to the MSRP link, for details).

--Free clinic, accepting donations.

--The acupuncture treatment uses 5 tiny sterile needles per ear for each patient using the NADA(National Acupuncture Detoxification Assoc.) Protocol. Originally developed for detox of addictions, it is also extremely effective for stress and anxiety reduction, insomnia, relaxation, also can be helpful with pain relief.

--Patients come in, register and are seated. Needles are placed in ears and the person then rests for 20-40 minutes. Many will fall asleep; it is not a painful procedure with very few side effects.

--This is not group therapy or counseling; the effect of the acupuncture treatment is what that the clinic is offering and it is quite positive.

--All volunteer acupuncturists are licensed in the State of Wisconsin and carry malpractice insurance. We follow OSHA guidelines for safe clinic care/proper needle disposal.

-- Other non-acupuncture volunteers may help in the clinic as well, with greeting, registration, set-up and clean up.
