Dr. Maulana Karenga - Kwanzaa

Dr. Maulana Karenga
As an African American and Pan-African holiday celebrated by millions throughout the world African community, Kwanzaa brings a cultural message which speaks to the best of what it means to be African and human in the fullest sense. Given the profound significance Kwanzaa has for African Americans and indeed, the world African community, it is imperative that an authoritative source and site be made available to give an accurate and expansive account of its origins, concepts, values, symbols and practice.
Moreover, given the continued rapid growth of Kwanzaa and the parallel expanded discussion of it and related issues, an authoritative source which aids in both framing and informing the discussion is likewise of the greatest importance. Therefore, the central interest of this website is to provide information which reveals and reaffirms the integrity, beauty and expansive meaning of the holiday and thus aids in our approaching it with the depth of thought, dignity, and sense of specialness it deserves.

The holiday, then will of necessity, be engaged as an ancient and living cultural tradition which reflects the best of African thought and practice in its reaffirmation of the dignity of the human person in community and culture, the well-being of family and community, the integrity of the environment and our kinship with it, and the rich resource and meaning of a people's culture. It is within this understanding, then, that the Organization Us, the founding organization of Kwanzaa and the authoritative keeper of the tradition, has established and maintains this website.

Meet some of the many who have taken so much from Milwaukeeans in real estate, funds, tax credits and resolutions with Caucasian Privilege

DMR - DOWNTOWN MILWAUKEE RENAISSANCE

Center:  The event drew more than 600 Milwaukee-area business executives - primarily-majority-absolute Caucasian.
*****************************
Where are the Electorate - African Americans, other People of Color and Work Challenged Milwaukeeans at this braggadocio event lead by Tom Barrett and Chris Abele?
The Electorate is made up of folks that own the city assets - contingency funds, budget, real estate, tax increment districts, other tax credits, resolutions, and grantees for ALL federal funds.
*********************
L-R Top:  A former city of Milwaukee planner Peter Park was the keynote speaker at the Milwaukee Business Journal's Downtown Milwaukee Renaissance event.

The event focused on the many new development projects underway, recently built and on the drawing board in downtown Milwaukee.  The deis panel consisted of one African American, John Daniels-Quarles & Brady.

You can/will hear Tom Barrett, mayor, regularly respond to a question on the changes downtown with a reference to "RENAISSANCE" for revitalizing with $$Millions taken from African Americans, other People of Color and Work Challenged - the Electorate of Milwaukee.

Right-Top Down:  Steve Costello of the BMO Harris Bradley Center, Sheldon Opperman of Compass Properties, Sandy Botcher of Northwestern Mutual, Greg Marcus of The Marcus Corp, Alex Molinaroli said his company will make a decision about a downtown expansion within 12 months, Scott Welsh of Colliers International and Inland Cos., Matt Rinka of Rinka Chung Architecture.

Left-Right Bottom  Margaret Henningsen of Women's Fund of Greater Milwaukee, Panelists took questions from Milwaukee Business Journal editors and reporters, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele and Tom BarrettJohn Daniels of Quarles & Brady LLP and Michael Fascitelli of the Milwaukee Bucks, Robert Joseph of Joseph Property Development.

Left-Down:  Barry Mandel of Mandel Group, John Kissinger of Graef, Gary Gorman of Gorman & Co., Jackie Walsh of Irgens, Eve Hall of the African American Chamber of Commerce, Gary Witt of Pabst Theater Group.

African Americans pictured

ATTORNEY JOHN DANIELS, Quarles & Brady was the only African American on stage.

Daniels, an attorney, member of a known family in Milwaukee, is often the lone ranger for Caucasian monopoly-oligopoly MMAC, Milwaukee 7 and Greater Milwaukee Committee

It is important to note that John Daniels, attorney, DO NOT represent African Americans or advocate for growth beyond an annual golf event.

MYRA HOLLAND, past owner of Milwaukee Mall, Fond du Lac and North was his best "paid-for-service" advocacy for an African American outside of his family.

MARGARET HENNINGSEN of Women's Fund of Greater Milwaukee represents outside of Milwaukee constituents called "Greater Milwaukee".  Greater Milwaukee is a Caucasian term to "slip in" Wauwatosa, West Allis, Fox Point, Shorewood, Glendale, even Waukesha and Mequon.

DR. EVE HALL (at the time of luncheon), Executive Director,  African American Chamber of Commerce has been chosen/appointed by Caucasians to be their ambassador.  She is now the Executive Director, Urban League of Milwaukee.

Note:
We, African Americans, wish the URBAN LEAGUE and any other African American lead organization the best in fundraising and annual events, however, Eva Hall/Urban League by NO MEANS speak for African Americans in Milwaukee OR represent an OK for Caucasian privileges and stealing of resources meant for the majority Electorate.

'Seniors, may I Remind you of your Responsibility so when YOU are the point of Discussion

Max Swier of Milwaukee voices his concerns about the selection process involved in the proposal to use the Wilson Park Senior Center as an overnight warming center for the homeless. December 10, 2019
MILWAUKEE COUNTY || Discussion about Warming Center Use of Wilson Park (2601 W Howard Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53221) for the homeless was not in favor by seniors.

"You're gonna' turn our beautiful senior center into a homeless encampment like 6th and Clybourn," shouted one man who refused to give his name to a reporter, referring to the former encampment near downtown Milwaukee is known as 'Tent City'."
Mary Glass - MPA-LLC, Chief Visionary Officer
Senior, 74-years-old
Mary Glass Reminders

Warming Room - 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. with a capacity of 40 to 50 single men and women.
Homeless on Milwaukee's south side, which Rafael Acevedo estimated to be about 150 who live outdoors.
The Wilson Center is normally open from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Rafael Acevedo, the CDBG, City of Milwaukee's grant compliance manager.

Housing workers and advocates for the homeless will drive overnight guests to the senior center and provide transportation and bus tickets to them in the morning.
=================================================

May I say, as a 74-year-old senior, to the above senior, Wilson Park is a public dwelling.  The building belongs to the homeless as well as others of the public - because they are part of the Electorate.

The senior's negative thoughts fail the "Golden Rule".

His comment fails to take into consideration that our homeless brothers and sisters who lack the basics of quality of life require our assistance per our rules and regulations or policies for the well-being of the public square.  Additionally, an empowered homeless man or woman may/can be the one who will assist him in his home, or a nursing and medical environment.

Loathing
May I further say, the man quoted above is less than one step from a "loathing" conversation by a younger person or non-caring individual who do NOT want older adults that are slow-walking individuals with immune system concerns, diseases, prone to fall with injuries and have a walking disability to visit Wilson Park, a public site.  The public building is paid for by taxes and appropriations by all.

Supervisor Jason Haas, District 14
My office will call on Supervisor Jason Haas, Chair-Committee on Parks, Energy, and Environment to provided needed leadership for our elected, appointed, hired and donor-for-hire government representatives (city and county) to allow the "homeless" to exist in a manner appropriate of Milwaukee County, city of Milwaukee and the $Millions that are brought into the county and city of Milwaukee (CDBG or otherwise) on behalf of the citizenry with low/no income.

As for "Tent City", under I-794, this is as a result of NEGLECT of our Enduring Concentrated Poverty status in the city and county of Milwaukee.  It speaks to $Millions taken from the people and given to real estate barons' projects that DO NOT include those who bring the government millions into the city and county.   We recently saw the disrespect for humanity and greed shown by WI Governor Tony Evers, Secretary Craig Thompson of WisDOT, Tom Barrett, Mayor, and Chris Abele, County Executive by the EVICTION of the homeless at Milwaukee's Tent City by October 31, 2019.
This is a copy of what was sent  October 4, 2019, by Governor Tony Evers and/or Secretary Craig Thompson

Seniors Have a Responsibility
Additionally, before the transfer/transition would happen, the seniors and the public-at-large must weigh-in for appropriateness from the Board of Supervisors, Chris Abele, the mayor, the NEW County Executive and Rafael Acevedo, CDBG - City of Milwaukee.

Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors
Chris Abele, County Executive & Tom Barrett, Mayor

Tony Evers, WI Governor

Craig Thompson - Secretary, WisDOT
A Better Approach
Seniors must call for "RE-ROUTING THE FUNDING" so there are NOT Tent Cities. Call on Governor Tony Evers (608.266.1212 - email:  eversinfo@wisconsin.gov)), who chose to settle the "Tent City" dilemma by EVICTING the homeless by having his WisDOT Secretary Craig Thompson(email- craigm.thompson@dot.wi.gov) to evict those in Tent City.  Yeah.  Evers and Thompson claimed the eviction was due to highway concern.
DNC 2020
The truth is they wanted to get the "Homeless" out of sight for the DNC folks.

Call Evers and Thompson and demand that they provide an appropriate solution that involves a clear understanding.
1.  What will be done immediately to Wilson Park so that it is ready for the seniors and use for the Homeless until we find "permanent" housing arrangements?

2.  Provide ample housing for the HOMELESS as well as their transition.

3.  Provide a checklist of nuisance concerns like bedbugs and talk about SAFETY prevention and intervention.  Again, remembering that the Homeless have a right to visit any neighborhood they choose.

4. Partner with real estate barons (Mandel, Gorman, Colliers, Graef, Joseph Property Developmentand developers for adequate housing that is transparent, has oversight, and specific accountability of funding - tax credits and special funding.  Projects that allow the Homeless to get back on their feet through living in the Warming sites, the housing developments and providing various equities for leveraging the cost of the project with unemployed Milwaukeeans for starters.

I like the level-headed response below by Jerry Schulz.
"I'm really scratching my head to understand what the opposition to it is," said Jerry Schulz, whose wife attends line dancing classes at the center.

"I believe that if you continue to come to the center during normal hours you'd be oblivious to the fact that this was even going on."

TOM BARRETT said the upheaval in Sherman Park was the worst issue of his time in office.  Then, why we do not see the ACTION of his WORDS.

He did not speak to the TRUST, SAFETY, and CALM brought on by his administration for the support to the family of Sylville Smith;
- of the quick sharing of the videoCAMERAS requested by Sylville Smith's family;
- of the positive report from Director Ronald Davis - US DOJ COPS office regarding their INVESTIGATION of Milwaukee Police Department;
- a change in police bullying and shootings of People of Color;
- the removal of HIDTA oppression in the area;
- partnerships with those who have received excessive resources not given to the citizenry of Milwaukee, i.e., BMO (Canadian investment bank), Irgens, Michael Best & Friedrich, Mandel, Gorman, Marcus, Abele, Northwestern, Collier's International, Pabst Theater, Joseph Properties, Johnson Control, The Bucks, and Fiserv;
- a positive report from the solidarity of BIDs and Neighborhood Strategic Planning Groups for the removal of

Constitutional scholars provided interpretation for the Judiciary Hearing for the Impeachment of Donald John Trump

Constitutional scholars (L-R) Noah Feldman of Harvard University, Pamela Karlan of Stanford University, Michael Gerhardt of the University of North Carolina, and Jonathan Turley of George Washington University are sworn in prior to testifying before the House Judiciary Committee in the Longworth House Office Building on Capitol Hill December 4, 2019 in Washington, D.C.

==========================
Professor Feldman, Professor Karlan and Professor Gerhardt were witnesses for the Judiciary Hearing on November 4, 2019.  Their knowledge of U.S. Constitutional law and review of the issues relative to Donald John Trump asking Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky, for a favor to make announcements to discredit Candidate Joe Biden.  He told Zelensky that he was to do the favor in public if he was to get the $400M approved by the U.S. Congress for assistance.

The three (3) law professors spoke continuously of the lawlessness behavior of Donald Trump, his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and his staff according to witnesses before the investigative and judiciary hearing  the law which states "no one was above the law".
They were/are obstructionists.

Professor Johnathan Turley was the Republican witness.  Unfortunately, Professor Turley used comments that questioned his understanding of the intent of the U.S. Constitution and the issues at hand.  His facial expressions appeared to be distracted and often distorted.

U.S. Representative Eric Swalwal shared how Turley represented a federal judge who was IMPEACHED for his ruthless behavior and bribes of lawyers and others in his court.  Turley's defense for the criminal-acting judge, Federal judge, G. Thomas Porteous Jr. who was "impeached" with several admonitions and a ruling he is never to hold public or private office.

Interesting enough, the prosecutor against Turley was U.S. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff.

Turley's argument was that the thuggish judge was a "moucher".
