African American females have always been the GOLD STANDARD

1866: First Black woman to enlist in the Army

Williams enlisted in the Army using the name William Cathay, on Nov. 15, 1866.

She informed her recruiting officer that she was a 22-year-old cook. He described her as 5' 9", with black eyes, black hair, and a black complexion. An Army surgeon examined Cathay and determined the recruit was fit for duty, thus sealing her fate in history as the first documented Black woman to enlist in the Army even though U.S. Army regulations forbade the enlistment of women. She was assigned to the 38th U.S. Infantry and traveled throughout the West with her unit.

Millie Dunn Veasey of Raleigh, North Carolina

The birthday celebrations for Millie Dunn Veasey of Raleigh, North Carolina.

On January 31, 2018, the World War II veteran turned 100 years old. Veasey belonged to a battalion of all African American women, the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion.

Veasey lived in her long-time Raleigh home. There have been a few recent additions, like an electric chair lift to help her get up and down the stairs.

In 1966, Veasey hosted Martin Luther King Jr. at her sister’s home but says one of her grandest memories was meeting President Barack Obama 50 years later.

November 4, 2018, Raleigh Convention Center

The late Millie Dunn Veasey (Class of 1953), who served in the only all-black, all-female battalion stationed overseas during World War II, will be among those inducted into the 2018 Raleigh Hall of Fame, Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the Raleigh Convention Center, on Salisbury Street, in downtown Raleigh.

Veasey’s trailblazing story was covered by local and major media outlets, including the New York Times.

Following graduation from then-Saint Augustine’s College, she taught in the State of Virginia before returning to Saint Augustine’s to serve as the Executive Secretary for Dr. James A. Boyer and Dr. Prezell R. Robinson. Ms. Veasey would later reach another first, by becoming the first woman to lead the Raleigh Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored Persons (NAACP).

General Charles McGee, who flew 409 fighter combat missions in three wars as a Tuskegee Airmen has passed away, NPR reports. He was 102.

McGee opted to get involved in something that interested him and soon found himself in Tuskegee, Alabama, learning to fly military aircraft.

"I heard about the aviation opportunity and passed the exams," he said. "[After] my first flight in a PT-17 — to be able to go up there and loop roll and spin and come back and put your feet on the ground — I was hooked! Never have I forgotten that first day."

McGee ended up flying in World War II for the Army as part of what are now called the Tuskegee Airmen — a group of Black pilots and ground personnel with a remarkable service record during the war.  CLICK

The singer posted a clip of the performance on Instagram where he asked his screaming legion of fans to become allies in the fight against racism.

“There’s so much division in this world,” the crooner told the crowd.

“So much racial injustice. And as you and I both know, racism is evil, and it is diabolical. But what you and I get to do — we get to be difference makers.”

Mary Glass, Chair-CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC says, "John J. Flynn, Erie County District Attorney is the No. 1 starting point for gathering protocol of law enforcement for upcoming procedures dealing with the massacre by 18-year old Caucasian  PAYTON GENDRON.  I feel Flynn will move with lightning expediency since NY Governor Kathy Hochul, NY, Attorney General Letitia Ann James, and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown are at the helm - on-site - from the jump-off".

PAYTON GENDRON act must not be allowed to simmer.  This boy knew what he was doing.  Intended to do this wrong.  Came the day before and "scoped" the area.

He sought "white supremacy" and CAUCASIAN privilege by daringly imposing the space of African Americans in Buffalo, NY WITH A POWERFUL WEAPON.

The supposedly "REPLACEMENT BS" is another Caucasian "get-off" CARD.

==============THIS CRIMINAL/MURDERER/THUG  CHOSE TO DRIVE 3 HOURS, SCOPE THE AREA FOR MASSACRE, COME INTO THE SACREDNESS OF EASTSIDE BUFFALO, AND RANDOMLY SHOOT CUSTOMERS SHOPPING (AGES 20 YEARS TO 86 YEARS)  AT A NEIGHBORHOOD GROCERY

MENTAL HEALTH is absolute for ALL to survive in Milwaukee - LET'S GO

                                          MAY 1, 2022 - MAY 31, 2022

           NATIONAL MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

National Mental Health Awareness Month in May focuses on bringing tools, resources, and education to the general public

Each year Mental Health America, National Alliance on Mental Illness, and other mental health organizations across the country organize events, webinars, and more to improve mental health access across the country.

Mental health is a hot topic. This is good news. It means the stigma for mental health issues is slowly going away. Mental health issues are finally getting the attention they deserve. Healthcare workers and individuals feel they can discuss mental health more openly. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t still work to do, however.

As a whole, we often misunderstand mental health because it is hard to define. Additionally, mental health includes several areas. These areas involve one’s social, emotional, and psychological well-being. Mental health affects thoughts, feelings, and actions. When one has positive mental health, they are better equipped to handle stress, be more productive, and realize their full potential.

While we focus on our physical wellbeing, the food we eat, exercise, and getting regular check-ups for vision and dental care, we often forget to take stock of our emotional and spiritual needs. Everyday demands take their toll.

HOW TO OBSERVE #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth

Share the message. Taking care of our mental health is as normal as eating healthy, exercising, or even saving for the future. Share your story to help others understand that achieving mental health is a daily process.

“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to strengthen Milwaukee County – we have to get this right,” said Co-Chair Rolland. “The journey is just as important as the destination – we have to build a process that engages Milwaukee County, especially underserved neighborhoods. My hope is that we will dream big, seek out the great ideas our neighbors have to offer, and deliver strong recommendations that our community will believe in.”

MILWAUKEE – On Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 10 am, Milwaukee County’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Task Force met for the first time, launching an effort to recommend how Milwaukee County should allocate $183.6 million in federal funding it will receive as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus bill signed into law by President Joseph R. Biden on March 11, 2021.

Milwaukee County’s ARPA Task Force is comprised of six leaders:
