Call for Investigation of Discrimination by GLASS of University of Wisconsin Regents gets first Response from U.S. Department of Justice

WISCONSIN - Thursday Evening, July 26, 2012, Mary Glass, Chair/CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association, announced this evening that their long-awaited 1st response from the U.S. Department of Justice regarding the Call for Investigation of University of Wisconsin Regents and University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Chancellor and staff has been received with a referral to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Glass contacted the United States Office of Justice, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder office, back in March of this year for a Call for Investigation of widespread Discrimination against African American, other People of Color and the Work Challenged (un-, under-employed; un-, under-degreed and certificated; un-, under-financed neighborhood-level business; disabled; and re-entry - especially those returning from WAR, INCARCERATION, BOOMERANG EMPLOYMENT, BOOMERANG RETIREMENT and DEGREED students without employment).

Contact of the U.S. Office of Justice was after the office of State Attorney General JB Van Hollen said his office's hands were tied; and, the office of Governor Scott Walker and other notables refused to respond.

The Call for Investigation referenced a year and a half contact by Glass to the UW Regents, University of Wisconsin System President Kevin Reilly, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Chancellor Michael Lovell for noted wrongdoings that included:  refusing to meet, violation of State Statute 36, refusal to honor the Public Information law, conflict of interest, bias selection of Chancellor Lovell, discrimination and culture of exclusion of African American, other People of Color and the Work Challenged.

Our 5-year SmartGrowth Signature Plan (2005-2010) observation looked at Code of Conduct by elected-appointed-hired-volunteered and donor-for-hire representatives that ask for, spent and/or monitored government funding on behalf of Milwaukeeans; and, how their behavior contributed significantly to Enduring Concentrated Poverty in the iconic city of Milwaukee.  Our contact over the years have been extensive contact with our top leaders in Wisconsin.  The list includes:
  • Governor Scott Walker
  • State Attorney General JB Van Hollen
  • Leaders of the Senate and Assembly
  • Milwaukee Legislative Delegation and other legislators
  • Wisconsin Board of Accountability
  • Secretary Mike Huebsch - Department of Administration
  • Wisconsin Board of Regents
  • University of Wisconsin Foundation
  • University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee,  Research Foundation
  • University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Real Estate Foundation
  • University of WI System President Kevin Riley
  • University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Chancellor Mike Lovell, Provost Johannes Britz, cabinet, staff
  • University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Past Chancellor Carlos Santiago
  • ex-Governor Jim Doyle
  • University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Alumni Association
  • County Executive Chris Abele - Milwaukee County
  • Milwaukee County Supervisors
  • Mayor Tom Barrett - city of Milwaukee
  • Common Council President Willie Hines - city of Milwaukee
  • City of Milwaukee Common Council
  • Milwaukee Area Technical College - Board
  • Milwaukee Area Technical College - President
  • City of Milwaukee School Board - Milwaukee Public Schools
  • Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent
Unfortuantely, the above leaders failed to provide "a response" or they gave a perfunctory "thanks but No thanks" response to look into the Call for Investigation at their level.

The correspondence to the Office of Justice was dated March 28, 2012.

Glass is optimistic and said, "We know this is probably protocol; but, I am most thankful that we have been assigned a Reference number, email address and contact number to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for our next step."

"We will use this great first response-referral opportunity to the FBI as a message to continue seeking signers for the Sign-On Petition for U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to launch the investigation".
