Colorful Celebrations

Families gather for the great feast of karamu on December 31. Karamu may be held at a home, community center, or church. Celebrants enjoy traditional African dishes as well as those featuring ingredients Africans brought to the United States, such as sesame seeds (benne), peanuts (groundnuts), sweet potatoes, collard greens, and spicy sauces.
================================

Soul Food is a term used for an ethnic cuisine, food traditionally prepared and eaten by African Americans of the Southern United States. Many of the various dishes and ingredients included in "soul food" are also regional meals and comprise a part of other Southern US cooking, as well. The style of cooking originated during American slavery. African slaves were given only the "leftover" and "undesirable" cuts of meat from their masters (while the white slave owners got the meatiest cuts of ham, roasts, etc.).

We also had only vegetables grown for ourselves. After slavery, many, being poor, could afford only off-cuts of meat, along with offal. Farming, hunting, and fishing provided fresh vegetables, fish and wild game, such as possum, rabbit, squirrel and sometimes waterfowl. Africans living in America at the time (and since) more than made do with the food choices we had to work with.
Stay tuned.
We welcome your INPUT.

Milwaukee Smart Grocery Network - Food Systems for Milwaukeeans

January 25, 2017
URBAN MILWAUKEE | Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC continues to strengthen its brand in Public Policy in the marketplace.

Today, we highlight the two words, FOOD SYSTEM.

According to learngrowconnect.com, Food System is defined as:
food system is the path that food travels from field to fork. It includes the growing, harvesting, processing, packaging, transporting, marketing, consuming, and disposing of food. It also includes the inputs needed and outputs generated at each step.
=======

Milwaukee Smart Grocery Network is in the process of launching its 2017 season.

We have narrowed our focus for NEW growth.
We seek co-op grocery groups in NSP/CDBG neighborhoods.

NSP/CDGB - Neighborhood Strategic Planning organizations that are entitled to HUD Community Development Block Grant funding.

We will report our findings directly to the USDA, HUD, and SEWRPC, for strategic planning at the federal, state and regional levels for advice and guidance to the Milwaukee Common Council standing committees and the office of the mayor.

We call on the merchants to empower themselves by Communicating monthly, SHARING economic concerns, take actions for revenue and quality assurance, removal of barriers, outreach of healthy foods to the People and utilizing all resources available in the neighborhoods of Milwaukee, farms, weekly indoor and outdoor markets.

I N D I V I S I B L E - Milwaukee

January 22, 2017
Call to Action
Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC recognize and has joined the national movement of "Indivisible".

The Indivisible Movement is an organic showing of what U.S. Congress staffers saw as a way for the Electorate to empower themselves against Donald John Trump and the many obstructionists at the federal level as elected officials.

MPA LLC flipped the script and accepted the concept of oversight, transparency, and accountability of Indivisible but chose the first step to include 22 elected officials at the city level.

To make sure that they are monitored daily, weekly, monthly, resolution, purchases, and enforcements, we call for All Hands on Deck - Core Constituents/Milwaukeeans.

Our Investiture calls for the Report Card reports for judging performance and supporting re-election.  It will also call out missteps as they happen.

The twenty-two are:

22 Elected - City Government
3 Branches - Executive, Legislative and Judicial
Top Row - Left to Right
Tom Barrett, Mayor; Ashanti Hamilton - Common Council President/Alderman District 1; Judge Phillip Chavez, Judge Valarie Hill, Judge Derek Mosley
Left-DOWN to Bottom:  Treasurer Spencer Coggs, Comptroller Martin Matson, Alderman Anthony Zielinski - District 14, Alderman James Bohl Jr - District 5; Alderman Terry Witkowski - District 13, Alderman Cavalier Johnson - District 2,
Left to Right bottom:  Alderman Robert Donovan - District 8, Alderwoman Chantia Lewis - District 9; Alderman Mark Borkowski - District 11; Alderman Michael Murphy - District 10; Alderman Jose G Perez - District 12, Alderman Russell Stamper, II - District 15;
Right side top down:  City Attorney Grant Langley, Alderman Nicholas Kovac - District 3; Alderwoman Milele Coggs - District 6; Alderman Robert Bauman - District 4; and Alderman Khalif Rainey - District 7

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. ”
— PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

====================

NO One Exempt
Our focus first and foremost is the enforcement of Lean 6 Sigma customer care by the 22 elected officials-those they appoint-those they hire-those they validate as donor for hire government representatives.

The 22 elected officials first step is Oath of Office.

Citizenship, Leadership and Stewardship of the Electorate starts with each household member that can VOTE is registered and up-to-date with who represent their census tract, block, neighborhood, district, region, state and federal levels by name, telephone and email.

Indivisible Movement for Public Policy Commitment

INDIVISIBLE

A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR RESISTING THE TRUMP AGENDA

Former congressional staffers reveal best practices for making Congress listen.
========================================================================

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. ”
— PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

January 11, 2017
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC continues to add meaning and core values to its brand.  This time it is drawing attention to its support of the INDIVISIBLE MOVEMENT.

This is a coming together of like-minds to show opposition to the Trump movement through "organized efforts" of Indivisible commitment  (unable to be divided or separated).  It is taking the "How to Guide" and using it to mobilize those in the Milwaukee area.

Indivisible Milwaukee is the name of the group.

IM will utilize the tools solidarity-inclusion-citizenship and fellowship to start the mobilization of like-minds to be "political" - register to VOTE, to know who your elected officials are and register with their office that you seek INDIVISIBLE rights for your neighborhood and your city coffers.

Media

Social Media - Texting-Twittering-Facebooking-Blogging are major tools for empowerment.

Social Media has platforms.  They will be used for Roll Call of district administrators and the mayor's office.  Roll Call will include appointed-hired-donor for hire and recipients of our "coffers".  We see committees-commissions-boards-authorities and special Ad Hoc groups to be part of the "built-in" false authority representing Re-Entry of the Incarcerated, Veterans, LGBT, Disabled, Homeless, African-American, American Indian, Asian, Latino and Work Challenged.

We will FOLLOW THE MONEY.

The platforms of Social Media will allow us to vet and keep track of guidance to the 3 branches - executive, legislative and judicial for the consideration and distribution of all resources, especially grants, loans, tax increment districts, neighborhood improvement projects, and treaty-like involuntary servitude.

Since we know that our political power starts locally and move national, INVISIBLE MILWAUKEE starts with the city government of Milwaukee and NO ONE is exempt.

US Congressional Staffers

This was the brainchild of 2 or 3 dozens of congressional staffers. Their 25-Page Guide provides how-to methods that were done "successfully" by the Tea Party to block President Barack Obama.

$1.2 Million Challenge for Formerly Incarcerated Entrepreneurs Opens

The U.S. Small Business Administration has launched a competition through which it expects to award up to $1.2 million to expand access to small business assistance for formerly incarcerated individuals.
The Aspire Challenge will award prizes of $75,000 to as many as sixteen organizations in support of their efforts to deliver entrepreneurial training and microloan assistance to formerly incarcerated individuals. The competition is open to all for-profit and nonprofit entrepreneurial support organizations with an innovative and sustainable solution to providing the formerly incarcerated with the education and technical assistance they need to start and expand a business. With approximately 60 percent of formerly incarcerated individuals still unemployed a year after their release, self-employment increasingly is seen as a viable alternative to the traditional nine-to-five job.
