Corey Booker Goes to Washington - New Jersey U.S. Senator

Newark, NJ |  Corey Anthony Booker, the charismatic mayor of Newark, NJ, is on the way to the U. S. Congress. He has won the postion left vacant by the passing of Democrat Frank Lautenberg in June.

He is the 1st African American Senator from New Jersey and the second African American U.S. Senator serving now in the U.S. Senate.  Booker comes into the position with a backdrop of the 16-day closing of government by Congress.

His win comes a few days after the recent passing of his father, Carey Alfred Booker in Las Vegas.  His mother, Carolyn Rose Booker, was with him for his victory speech at election night.  His parents were freedom fighters and two of the first corporate representatives of IBM.

Newly elected U.S. Senator Corey Booker, Democrat defeated Steve Lonegan, Republican.

Booker, 44, was born in Washington, DC. He is a graduate of Stanford University and Yale Law School. He was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to the University of Oxford.

As a well-known, social media and hands-on politican, he represents progressiveness.
