In the Name of JUSTICE MATTERS - An Invitation for HOWARD-MARQUETTE-UNIVERSITY OF WI LAW SCHOOL Case Learning

April 12, 2012

MILWAUKEE(MPA) - Milwaukee Professionals Association Justice Matters Initiative is in the process of inviting three (3) law schools to engage in CASE LEARNING the rest of the year.

The focus is in the "public square" regarding the widespread lawlessness of DISCRIMINATION in and related to the iconic city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin that is the "root" of Enduring Concentrated Poverty and its byproducts. The three (3)law schools are:
-- Howard University, Washington, DC
-- University of Wisconsin - Madison, Madison, Wisconsin
-- Marquette Law School, Milwaukee, WI.

Why?
Milwaukee is the largest urban city of Wisconsin, the gateway of the business trust, only 1st Class city in Wisconsin with over a half-million population - 3/4 of population consist of People of Color with hidden talent and vetted neighborhood level businesses - recipient of mega millions annually; yet, it is an Enduring Concentrated Poverty city and have the highest People of Color imprisonment in Wisconsin. For African Americans, it has decimated it family-structure for decades.

Mary Glass, Chair/CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association included three (3) components of impact for the Invitation. They are:

1. To allow/encourage an opportunity of "real time" student CASE-LEARNING/study by law students via Milwaukee Professionals Association Call for Investigation by the U.S. Justice Department for widespread DISCRIMINATION in the iconic city of Milwaukee, starting with the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, THE URBAN university, and its cross-ties into elected-appointed-hired-volunteered and donor for hire representatives.

2. To engage dialog for making the industry of law more beneficial, customer friendly, transparent, relevant, accountable and sensitive to all populations, especially African American and other People of Color - populations that traditionally are not given their "just do".

3. To look at practices of point of entry of our law enforcement, case law, Wisconsin law, Constitutional law in our justice system regarding the recent "cavity searches" and racial stereotypes.

4. To re-visit Wisconsin TRUTH and SENTENCING Law for real value, best use of resources, cost reductions, impact on African Americans and other People of Color; and, NEW areas for adjudication.

Re-define, Re-brand and Un-trap
The overall reason for the Invitation is to seek solutions that will break the cycle of incarceration and improve quality of life and economic development of Milwaukeeans whose lives have been impacted severely over the last fifty years, with decades of injustices.

It has been like a major tsunami in the lives of families of African American, other People of Color and the Work Challenged (un-, under-employed; un-, under-degreed and certificated; un-, under-financed neighborhood-level business; disabled; and re-entry - especially those returning from WAR, INCARCERATION, BOOMERANG EMPLOYMENT, BOOMERANG RETIREMENT and DEGREED students without employment).

"We will see if one or all 3 will see the benefit of the innovative exercise that is to model after the Harvard Inside the Case Method 1 and 2."
