City of Milwaukee received $57,000 check for SEWER enticement, check and verify
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Professionals Association/MPA is working on Neighborhood Preparedness for disaster safety and security of Milwaukeeans and nearby fellow citizens of Milwaukee county.
$57,000 Gift
Alderman Joe Davis sponsored a press announcement and sharing of a $57,000 donation by Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA) to the city of Milwaukee for sizeable repairs of sewer lines. Brad Carmichael, vice president of business development for Service Line Warranties of America, in addition to the check comes with an insurance that allows purchase by the month or by the year for property owners.
Citizen participation HAS NOT been considered and therefore the press call is premature. Going forward, Milwaukeeans must insist on notification and weighing in before we get to this "done-deal" level.
It sounds like Alderman Davis and members of the common council have passed a Resolution for citizen purchase but forgot to ask the buyer/purchaser/property owners/customer/tax payer for buy-in.
Missed Opportunity
Why haven't there been a massive outreach to educate the citizenry about first the owner's responsibility of cost of the sewer from owner property to city attachment? Laws on the books that are local, state and federal.
Have we looked at ALL/all or at least the ramifications that would be connected to the problems of the recent $28.5 million dollars caused by the 2010 floods? Do we know that the plan being offered is relevant?
What about the ongoing MMSD/Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District problematic issues? Have we looked at EPA/Environmental Protection Agency for environmental and safety mandates that are regulatory?
What business development partnership at the neighborhood level is possible for channel development of sustainable employment?
National League of Cities Endorsement
Since the National League of Cities promotes its Associate Members and Sponsor members in endeavors such as this, it is not the end-all for selecting the product (s) without some baseline vetting that works for Milwaukeeans with sewer issues.
It appears that Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA) has completed due diligence in lobbying. CLICK for Memberships.
City of Milwaukee would be a huge midwest catch for SLWA and possibly a huge bonus for Brad Carmichael, vice president of business development. However, what "means testing" say the property owners with sewer responsibility will benefit with the sewer concerns of Milwaukee and Milwaukee county? About SLWA, CLICK.
Our preliminary findings show that the process being used to market and score has been used in other areas; i.e., Denver - CLICK.; and, Atlanta, CLICK.
But, before we "lock-in" to the optional pay plans, Milwaukee Professionals Association say do your homework and be sure your alderperson has been contacted for accountability.
MPA will return and provide an update.
