UW-Milwaukee INNOVATION research PARK, Caucasian only

Photos by Troye Fox

Among those attending the groundbreaking were (L-R) Milwaukee philanthropist Michael Cudahy, Jeannette Tamayo, Acting Regional Director for the Chicago Regional Office of the U.S. Economic Development Administration, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, UWM Real Estate Foundation Board Chair Bruce Block, UWM Chancellor Michael R. Lovell, and David Gilbert, UWM Real Estate Foundation board member.

This will become the center for economic development for greater Milwaukee,” said UWM Chancellor Michael R. Lovell of the 71-acre site.

Who is Greater Milwaukee?
August 11, 2011

Milwaukee, WI - The problem with the above statement is Chancellor Michael Lovell has a BIG CLOUD of "Discrimination" over the INNOVATION PARK, FRESHWATER SCHOOL, NEESKAY PROJECT, COLUMBIA NORTHWEST QUADRANT, KENWOOD CENTER, REGENERATION PROJECT and MASTER PLAN.

The UW Regents, President Kevin Reilly and Chancellor Lovell have had total disregard for the people of Milwaukee, especially People of Color at the neighborhood-level. It is reprehensible and is a racial-deficit mark against UW-Milwaukee, the UW System and the others who are part of the discrimination.

We will SPEAK LOUD and LONG for corrective actions that include intervention, prevention, appropriate discipline and monetary relief.

Participating in the groundbreaking were (L-R) Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Milwaukee County Board Chairman Lee Holloway, Children’s Hospital and Health System President and CEO Peggy Troy, and Wauwatosa Mayor Jill Didier.

INNOVATION PARK
UWM is moving Milwaukee and the region forward. Join with us as we leverage the assets of the region to develop a world-class, public-private research park that spurs strong and enduring partnerships between academia and industry leading to new products, spinoff businesses, workforce development and jobs.
Development Begins Summer 2011
The above statements are found at:

The faces are Caucasian-only and some of the same inside players such as, Jacquelyn Fredrick, President and CEO, Blood Center of Wisconsin - 2010-2011 8th Chancellor Search Committee, advertisements for Lubar School of Business and UW-Milwaukee Research Board.

Dr. John Raymond Sr., M.D., President and CEO, Medical College of Wisconsin has been receiving research grants. We are especially interested in the participation of scientists, staffers, partners in the grants that are regarding all Milwaukeeans, especially African American and other People of Color. On July 5, 2011, a five-year, joint grant was received by:
Medical College of Wisconsin and Cellular Dynamics Awarded NHLBI Grant Using Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (Madison).

UWM Open Letter Complaint - April 26, 2011
The genesis of the Open Complaint of Discrimination was hand-delivered by Mary Glass, Chair/CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association to the office of State Attorney General JB Van Hollen as part of the state and federal request for a thorough investigation of the stacked-deck malfeasance and misfeasance of the selection of the 8th Chancellor, Dr. Michael Lovell, over the 4 other finalists.

The alleged Open Complaint included the following:
• failed to honor the state statutes, 36.01(1)(2).
• ignored and failed to respond reasonably and timely to public info inquiries.
• failed to honor Code of Ethics of UW-M committee.
• failed to include “neighborhood-level business stakeholders on UW-M committee.
• failed to have additional neighborhood-level listening session.
• failed to allow additional time when Dr. David Belcher withdrew as a finalist.
• created a racially segregated “schedule” for the finalists visit.
• misrepresented city and UWM in the advertisement – ignored “urban” view.
• sent message of “segregation” - Milwaukeeans do not matter to Board of Regents.
• unprecedented advantage-bias given to the “Interim Chancellor”.
• failed to honor 1956 founding belief listed in UW-Milwaukee Institutional Profile.
• failed to conduct an honorable search; therefore, damaging public confidence.

Since the initial submission to State Attorney General Van Hollen, additional discriminatory issues have been discovered and continue to show widespread leveraging of resources, as in the UW-Milwaukee Real Estate Foundation, the UW-Milwaukee Research Foundation and the City of Milwaukee. Investigations are on the way to leverage the discriminatory practices that maybe tied to Milwaukee County and the philanthropic donors for favor.

Innovation Groundbreaking
Lovell is seen with his Chair of the UW-M Real Estate Foundation, Attorney Bruce Block of Reinhart Boener Van Deuren s.c., and UW-M Real Estate Foundation President David Gilbert.

All three have failed to provide information relevent to the inclusion of African American and other People of Color at the neighborhood and residential level to show compliance using federal funding, memorandum of understanding with federal government agencies and connectivity of partners as a result of the federal funding and resources.

We see in the photos we have multi-level government involvement - Jeannette Tamayo, Acting Regional Director for the Chicago Regional Office of the U.S. Economic Development Administration, ex-County Executive and now Governor Scott Walker, recently elected County Executive Chris Abele, County Executive Chairman Lee Holloway (only African American in photos) and Wauwatosa Mayor Jill Didier.

According to the speeches, they did not talk about Milwaukeeans or City of Milwaukee (the iconic named city with the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in it) - the REAL ENGINE for this project.

Recovery
There are over half-million folk poised for education and technology attainment and bringing forth hidden talent in emerging and submerging markets - "by design", no involvement. How do we "raise" the bar - end poverty - provide access, literacy and affluence to the masses in Milwaukee? They have been deliberately left out.

These are the folk, by design - trapped in Enduring Concentrated Poverty but they are garnering government resources now and in the ARRA - American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

They are not the partners as they should be. "By design" Lovell and his cohorts - Milwaukee 7, Greater Milwaukee Committee, Milwaukee Metropolitan Association of Commerce, philantrophic donors for favor, UW Regents, UW System Kevin Reilly , and the other "in-the-loop" high rollers, have high-jacked and steam-rolled mega millions, created revenue bonds and the works but left the "key people" out of the academics, construction and design, employment of goods and services, staffing, and other procurement opportunities.

We must not let that happen.

In fact, they have already assigned this-n-that partnerships. During Lovell's speech, he said in 10-15 years we can all look back and say what a great day the groundbreaking was for the city and region - What city, Wauwatosa?

Listen to each of the speakers - Are they talking about African American, other People of Color and the Work-Challenged being included in critical mass? They are the "major engine" for the funding.

Walker said this was the type of collaboration wanted. Since he has failed to provide requested Oath of Office accountability and his Open for Business pledge as the Governor of Wisconsin that includes African American business owners at the neighborhood level in Milwaukee as well as accountability of state agencies: UW Regents Board, WI Board of Accountability, WI Department of Administration, WI Department of Commerce and NEW Economic Development Corporation, his level of public trust by African American, other People of Color and the Work-Challenged is in the tank
.
Mary Glass, Chair/CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association

The Open Letter Complaint by Milwaukee Professionals Association is on behalf of the People. It includes misconduct by the 3-part Search committees. They were:
-- UW Regents Board and UW System President Kevin Reilly (18-member).
-- UW-Milwaukee campus committee headed by Professor Mark D. Schwartz (25-member).
-- UW Special Regents Committee headed by Regent Danae Davis and Regent José F. Vásquez (5-member).

The charges suggest complicit behavior between/within all 3 groups and Interim Chancellor Michael Lovell (who also have failed to provide public information).

Their failure/refusal to provide "public information" further creates a DARK CLOUD over his leadership as the 8th Chancellor.

We have included the following members of the board of UW-Milwaukee Real Estate Foundation in the Open Complaint - local, state and federal level investigation and expected Class-Action suit(s).
