August 4, 2011 - DRYHOOTCH on Brady - Legal Clinic
DRYHOOTCH, THE VETERANS LEGAL WORKSHOP OF MILWAUKEE, THE STATE BAR
OF WISCONSIN, & THE WISCONSIN PUBLIC DEFENDERS OFFICE
ANNOUNCE THE VETERAN FAMILY LAW CLINIC
Milwaukee County’s First Legal Clinic for both Veterans and their Families
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 2, 2011 - On August 4, 2011, the Veterans Legal Workgroup of Milwaukee, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and Dryhootch will launch the first Veteran Family Law Clinic in Milwaukee County.
The Clinic will be open at the Dryhootch Coffee House on a walk-in basis the first and second Thursday of every month.
Dryhootch is located at 1030 E. Brady Street on Milwaukee’s east side.
A future goal of the partnership between the Veterans Legal Workgroup and Dryhootch is to start a Veterans Treatment Court in Milwaukee County. Veterans Treatment Court programs are designed to keep veterans who are nonviolent offenders out of jail by assigning them a veteran mentor and getting them alternative treatment for combat-related conditions.
To date, there are 41 Veterans Treatment Courts across the United States, including one in Rock County, Wisconsin, which was started in 2009
