BARTIROMO's Investor's Brief - This week on Wall Street
Eyes on the Fed
It’s Fed Week again, and it will be an important one as Chairman Ben Bernanke and the Open Market Committee's meeting comes on the heels of some serious and significant economic developments. Investors will be listening closely to the statement after last week’s debt deal and market sell-off on fears of a weakening economy.

The Fed meets this week and Tuesday’s statement will be critical following the latest market sell-off. Chairman Bernanke has said previously that the Fed is prepared to step in with additional economic stimulus if necessary.
We’ll get the latest sales numbers for July on Friday. Retail sales turned positive in June, beating expectations as sales increased 0.1% following a decline in May.
Earnings have been a bright spot in the economy. Notable companies reporting this week include Cisco, Progressive and Walt Disney, and in the retail sector we’ll hear from Macy’s, Kohl’s, Nordstrom and JCPenney.
