What is the "IMF" - International Monetary Fund



Conceived at a United Nation Conference - Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, United States, in July 1944.

Officially created in 1945. It is accountable to 187 nations.

The organization was formed to provide intervention of economic overload that causes competition to a level of the Great Depression.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) works to foster international monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world. Created in 1945, the IMF is governed by and accountable to the 187 countries that make up its near-global membership.

Dominique Stauss-Kahn, resigned from his Managing Director position of the IMF.
His arrest came at a crucial time for the IMF, which is supposed to be renegotiating the Greek bailout.
