Today's EE Tip - Environmental Sustainability

MPA Energy Efficiency Tip
Different plants can provide "airfiltering" for good air quality. Take the time to find your favorite to beautify and enhance your life.

Snake Plant - Sansevieria trifasciata
A study by NASA found that there are a number of plants that can provide enhancements of air quality.

The Snake Plant is great for improving indoor air quality by passively absorbing toxins such as nitrogen oxides and formaldehyde. It is popular as a houseplant as it is tolerant of low light levels and irregular watering; during winter it needs only one watering every couple of months.

Madagascar Dragon Tree or Red Edged Dracaena
It is one of the plants used in the NASA Clean Air Study and has shown to help remove formaldehyde. It is an effective air cleaner and is among the best plants for removing xylene and trichloroethylene.
