Text4baby Tuesday - April 5, 2016

April 5, 2016

Dear MARY,

National Public Health Week 2016 (April 4-10) is here! Our partners at the American Public Health Association (APHA) sponsor the initiative each year to bring attention and awareness to the significant impact that public health efforts have on individuals, as well as the health of our nation as a whole. The theme, "Healthiest Nation 2030: Let's make America the healthiest nation in one generation" serves as a reminder that while we are making progress, there is still a long way to go to improve the health of our nation.

Text4baby is proud to be an evidence-based resource to increase health knowledge and promote healthy decision-making among moms and families nationwide. Use this week as an extra opportunity to talk to the new and expectant moms you work with about Text4baby and encourage them to ask questions about what they read.

APHA has created a brochure for you to download that contains more information about the state of our nation's health, as well as some ideas for how you can recognize National Public Health Week at your organization.

Thank you, as always, for all you do for public health!

Sincerely,
The Text4baby Team

Take Action
National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW), April 16 -23, 2016 focuses attention on the role of immunization in protecting infants from vaccine-preventable diseases. During NIIW, Text4baby encourages partners to remind parents that giving babies the recommended immunizations by age two is the best way to protect them from many serious childhood diseases, like whooping cough and measles. Parents are encouraged to talk to their child's doctor to ensure that their baby is up-to-date on immunizations.

To learn more about the history of NIIW, and what you can do to encourage infant immunizations this week and year round, visit the
NIIW website.

Quote of the Week

"[Text4baby] has brought tears to my eyes because you may not hear from close friends or family until the day baby is born, but Text4baby messages let me know that someone cares. What I've gained through Text4baby is a friend, an adviser and a service that is so priceless."
