Dear 4th Congressional District Voters:

Yesterday, July 16, I enjoyed meeting voters in the Sherman Park neighborhood, and especially at Sherman Perk coffee shop. In addition to my walk up Roosevelt and up 51st, I stopped for a visit at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

I expressed my concern to the administration of the Hospital about the press report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about the debt and charity case load that are causing some much red ink at the Hospital. St. Joseph and Aurora Sinai are critical to accessible healthcare for the people in the heart of Milwaukee.

As your Congressman, I will press to improve the Affordable Care Act and State funding for healthcare (a majority of which is federal funds) to make sure these hospitals remain viable into the future.

While I was in Sherman Park, I was also happy to participate in the Homer Blow radio program. We talked about many things – but it all comes down to the same thing, WE NEED JOBS!

Recently, the Milwaukee Common Council held a hearing on its Economic Development Plan. It received almost no press coverage and less public interest. The 119 page report called “Growing Prosperity – An Action Agenda for the City of Milwaukee” dated June 30, 2014. While it recites many of the problems it fails to address the serious issues of access to capital, racism and poverty that Pew has labeled the worst environment in the Nation to raise a black child. Only 1/3 of black and Hispanic MPS grads go to college.

And it has been documented that a black college grad earns at the same level as a white high school grad. It is clear to me that this report does not project the sense of urgency to change what is going on in Milwaukee.

Vote for change on August 12 GARY GEORGE – DEMOCRAT FOR CONGRESS
We ended our campaign day attending a community meeting at the Fox Point Village Hall and at Community Bank - sponsored event for families with a band at the park. Voters throughout the 4th Congressional District and Milwaukee County want the same thing. They want safe neighborhoods, opportunities for their children, accessible healthcare, especially for the elderly, and most of all, they want job opportunities and economic prosperity.

We have none of that now to the extent we should and I ask that you vote for change!!

Today I will discussing our black male incarceration rate around the jail downtown, will be walking on Prospect Ave. and will again visit Bayshore. I hope to see you before the election on August 12.

Sincerely yours,
GaryGeorge4Congress Campaign
