Rupert Murdoch Claims unawareness for defense - Who's ZOOMING here

UK PARLIAMENT - "I knew nothing, and I'm sorry", was a constant refrain of Rupert Murdoch during the Parliament exchange in the UK, July 19, 2011, regarding his company "phone hacking scandal".

The problem with that is, "he should have known".

He has access, on staff or in the marketplace for hands-on scrutiny, that should have been part of his conglomerate that would provide quality control and assurance to the public of their privacy and just running an "above board" business. That should of been his baseline ethics.

To state he heard of a payoff of $700,000 by his company in the newspaper speak volumes about his practices.

His comments came off as "incompetent", arrogant, sleep-at-the-wheel, with laxity, and "I am above this".

Checks and balances
Ignorance of the law is NO defense for this octogenarian - or his son, James Murdoch.

He should of known, common sense backed by verification, that a staff of 53,000 people dictates best quality control practices with transparency policies and practices that provide accountability. This helps, not totally eliminate malfeasance. However, it sends the message of correctness - leadership with morals.

He also knows that there must be knowledge of "sources" for verification of stories. Who is ZOOMING who here?

I hear news anchors and talking heads say, give Murdoch slack. First of all, there is more to this story. I say, investigate to the max and where there is negligence and error on his part, apply legal and civil punishment. Punishment that will send a message to anyone, especially wealthy individuals who think they do not have to follow the laws or basic principled-centered leadership.

I personally feel he let his staff down by not demanding the best from them.
As well as, being a grandfather figure, he did not send the right signal to the young "go-getters" coming along today.

He/We owe that to the universe for a better place for all to live.
