5th Finalists - Dr. Lisa Rossbacher
Dr. Lisa Rossbacher gave a 40 minute presentation on the Topic: Contemporary Challenges in Urban Universities.
President of Southern Polytechnic State University for 13 years.
Dr. Rossbacher chose to frame speech around what she consider to be opportunities.
Her comments echoed the woes of the economy and the trek for today's funding. She emphasized the importance of strong student learning with great job opportunities, balancing teaching and research, place-based teaching, community involvement, RESPECT Mission, collaboration with other schools, risk management, transparency of learning at Southern Polytechnic State University, successes with curriculum, alternate pipelines, value of degrees, relevancy of research, fundamental values - cultural and personal, accountability at the neighborhood level, success rate in African Americans in engineering.
She took a tour of the neighborhoods in Milwaukee.
