Dr. Michael LOVELL

Milwaukee, WI - The UW-M Selection Committee, chaired by Professor Mark Schwartz, have selected 5 candidates for University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. They are:

Dr. David Belcher
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
University of Arkansas at Little Rock

Dr. Michael Lovell
Interim Chancellor
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Dr. Gary Miller
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research
Wichita State University

Dr. James Muyskens
President
Queens College, City University of New York

Dr. Lisa Rossbacher
President
Southern Polytechnic State University (Marietta, GA)

MPA will conduct a short review of the candidates and post them over the next three days.

Initial Concerns
We are concerned that there are no African Americans in the line-up; and, have requested information as to the possible reason (s).

Interim Michael Lovell has received extremely low marks due to his "unresponsiveness" to MPA inquiries about human relations - correction/concern with library policy and staff, lack of shown school concern for a member of the staff that died; and, lack of professionalism in returning email inquiries and telephone calls. His lack of response curtail any interaction for questions, recommendations and desire to discuss concerns of the participation of UW-Milwaukee as a partner to stakeholders at the neighborhood-level.

He has found the time to be interactive with the Milwaukee 7.

There is also the concern of his seat on the Milwaukee 7 and believed endorsement of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Association of Commerce. Especially since Past Chancellor Carlos Santiago was a champion of theirs and he proved to be a total disappointment - NO RESPONSE. No follow-up of neighborhood concerns.

Not a Good Neighbor
The MMAC and Milwaukee 7 have continued to not act in the best interest of the stakeholders of Milwaukee - divisiveness on MPS School Board, Sick Day law, MPS Takeover, busting up "collective bargaining", pitting Choice/Charter against public education, Milwaukee 7 support organization and outsourcing, well-connected corporate types - real estate barons and well-known philanthropic bidders outsourced resources of City of Milwaukee stakeholders in conjunction with Tom Barrett, Mayor of Milwaukee.

We also see a lack of "initial" broadness of business administration - technology - interaction with African American, People of Color and Work-Challenged population of the candidates.
