5 Ways to Make the Most of Your Doctor's Visit - E-KIDNEY

A visit to the doctor's office can be nerve-wracking for many patients, so the National Kidney Foundation offers 5 easy ways to make the most of your visit to the doctor. Become an active, confident healthcare consumer and communicate more effectively with your physician or advanced practitioner with these 5 tips.
  1. Put pen to paper. Bring a pad of paper and a pen with you to the doctor so that you're ready to take notes. Be prepared to write down any medical terms to ask about them and look up more information at a later time. Gone green or digital? Using your phone's notepad will do the trick.
  2. Questions are the answer. Never be embarrassed to speak up and ask a doctor a question. The doctor has a medical degree, but knows that you don't. Ask the doctor to repeat or explain it in simpler terms if you don't understand.
