WISCONSIN - State of the State Speech Opinion - On Wednesday, January 22, 2014, Governor Scott Kevin Walker gave his fourth State of the State Speech. Given the givens, his speech was charged and anchored in hyperbole, facade, bait-n-switch, a 1/4 grain of truth and smoke and mirrors for the "wow" effect.
What happened to the 250,000 jobs he promised?
Is this the same as his promise of: The Blueprint of Prosperity?
His unemployment rate doesn't fly in Milwaukee, the largest city?
Isn't his Blueprint for Prosperity a case for "fiddling while Wisconsin burns"?
Governor Walker cited Wisconsin ratings of #17 from Chief Executive.net. Take a look and you will see the companies with the big purse strings such as Manpower, Johnson Control, Kohl's, Rockwell International, Oshkosh, and of course Walker's ride into the sunset Harley Davidson. These companies, with all due respect, subscribe to stockholders, not stakeholders - as a rule.
A better snapshot in comparison of the real economy would be the Center for Economic Development - University of WI - Milwaukee by Dr. Marc Levine, Lisa Heuler Williams and Catherine Madison depiction of: The State of Black.Owned Businesses in Milwaukee: Uneven Progress, Fragile Gains as a more realistic comparison of the state of the state economy. Because, until there is capacity building that change the wages and jobs at the census tract and neighborhood level (RURAL and URBAN), Wisconsin is going nowhere.
No amount of spinning and winking will change that. You have got to do due diligence consistently to ensure Wisconsin's existence.
Walker's "we'll doing great" is true for the "few" at the top with huge budgets for lobbying and the like, but absolutely nothing for the families and heads-of household across the state. However, until there is significant boost for education attainment, technology attainment, increased family supporting jobs across the board, especially revenue sharing at the census tract and neighborhood levels across the state, it is increasing the haves and increasing the have-nots in a way of bankruptcy. YES. BANKRUPTCY. This is not a "balance budget" nor something to brag about.
$900 million slush
His inflated balloon of $900 million dollars is a "wow-effect" to lasso those who have not a clue, those locked in misrepresentation, and those who have bought into the hype that Governor Walker is selling and have been selling before he took office in Madison and while he was in office as Milwaukee County Executive Director - a post he used to campaign for the office of Governor of Wisconsin. He is using the Governorship to campaign for President. "You can fool some of the people . . . but you can not fool all the people all the time", Abe Lincoln, 16th President.
He continues to look straight into the camera and spew out claims but fail to deal with the status quo and the damages he has inflicted on the state of Wisconsin in his elected-failed leadership.
If we have $900 million dollars in surplus (slush funds), why did Governor Walker remove 92,000 recipients off Badger Care. Why is he engaging in taking from the children, our future and the least of these? Why is he and his administration engaging in using federal dollars to put his name on a process already in-play for health care? All the while, he is demonizing the Affordable Health Care. It shows he is not concern with ethics/integrity and stealing - intellectual property - saying one thing and doing another.
If we have $900 million dollars, does that include the $$$millions his newly formed Department of Commerce/Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation cronyism, non-vetting and mismanagement of the state funds? This is a state agency that represents the people. Governor Walker is the chair of the Board of Directors. Isn't this a "conflict of interest"? Conflict of ethics?
If we have $900 million dollars, why WEDC (the agency with the scandal not solved) come back in the last few weeks asking for more funding? Yes. it passed. The majority-Republican representatives saw to that. Since he sits at the head of the Board of his scandal-ridden department for Wisconsin, how did he square his board's action in his 2014 State of the State message?
He seem to feel that hyperbole, winking and smiling is the way. Not.
Was Governor Walker confusing the state of state with his Larry Kudlow show, Squawk Box and other shows with "hype-for-ratings"? The State of the State is suppose to be of his Oath of Office and substance for ALL Wisconsinites existence and sustainability.
A fellow Republican Governor in New Jersey has been in the limelight with a scandal of epic proportion, however, what Governor Christie is going through will pale in comparison once the scrutiny comes to Governor Walker of Wisconsin - County Executive Walker's office in Milwaukee and Governor's office in Madison.
