CALL FOR NEW LEADERSHIP: CHAIRMAN CULLEN

Milwaukee – County Supervisor Deanna Alexander in calling on Supervisor David Cullen to step down from his position as Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Audit, and Personnel. Alexander made the following statement:

“Chairman Cullen has done a great disservice to the County Board, partly in actions that I can not publicly divulge due to closed session meeting rules.

“His heavy-handed use of the gavel in meetings demonstrates his methods of controlling which information is made public and which is not. I have seen enough to know that he has misled the public, does not take responsibility for his actions, is willing to blame others for his mistakes, and unfairly stacks the political decks in his favor. Committee chairs are supposed to ensure meetings are fair, equitable, and productive, and that is not being accomplished.

“The first time I witnessed this behavior, I let it slide. The second time, I spoke with him privately and made the issue public when he refused to recognize the issue. The third time, I would do my constituents a disservice if I chose to hold my tongue.

“Further, to this day, he continues to stand by false claims about bargaining with a decertified union.

“I can not support David Cullen in his position as Chairman and ask that Chairwoman Dimitrijevic hear these concerns and choose another leader for committee.”
