Safety Matters Response Network supports Supervisor Biddle's 2012 Youth Task Force
Supervisor Eyon Biddle, Sr. - District 10
MILWAUKEE - In a Letter of Support, Mary Glass, Chair/CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association said, "My office is in 'full support' of the ideas that were presented in the Press Release. It is definitely needed and would provide on-going connectivity and a voice for neighborhood-level strategic planning, networking and decision making. We welcome the opportunity to participate and support this effort".
Supervisor Eyon Biddle, Sr., in his first term as Supervisor, 10th District, has stepped out with a call for accountability on behalf of elected officials. In his Press Release, he said, “It’s a way to make sure that we, the lawmakers, are held more accountable and pay attention to the needs of our young people. They are our future.” “I want the youth to have ownership of this process. Even if they aren’t yet allowed to vote, they are our constituents and should not be ignored.”
The highlights of his proposed plan are:
• Youth violence prevention
• Parks and recreation activities
• Youth Sports Authority
• Public transit
• Children’s court programming and youth services
• The creation of a youth county government program
• County sponsored youth employment opportunities
Whereas Supervisor Biddle speaks to "youth" - 13-17 years, we support young adults (18-40 years) in the Safety Matters Response Network. The three (3) groups can compliment each other in this effort of youth involvement.
If the full body at the county supports this wonderful idea, it would go into affect January, 2012.
====================
This is a "neighborhood-level" empowerment of youth-teens-young adults in Milwaukee County. Milwaukee Professionals Association supports neighborhood-level engagement and buy-in.
