Safety Matters Response Network Exploratory Team adds 3 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee students to its "Leadership - Citizenship - Problem Solving"


MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee Professionals Association opens the door to its Exploratory Team of the Safety Matters Response Network/SMRN with the welcomed surprise of Pemba Mwepu, Rick Banks and Brandon Methu.

They are University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee students majoring in Human Resources Management and Finance, Political Science and Economics respectively. Two are also members of the UW-Milwaukee Senate – Methu is Chair – Diversity and Inclusion Council and Banks is the Speaker of the Senate. Mwepu is an International African student, presently with an intern program with Johnson Control.

Banks and Methu are from Milwaukee and attended public schools.

“It was both a welcomed surprise and timely to meet these three university students who get it”, said Mary Glass, Chair/CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association. “Right away the synergy was in place and their progressive, ready-to-assist and knowledgeable demeanor for leadership was evident. “We know that there are others that we will link with and move to re-define, re-brand and un-trap hidden talents from the City of Milwaukee.”

Their first meeting as members of the Exploratory Team of SMRN is Saturday, September 10, 2011, UW-Milwaukee Union, 2200 E. Kenwood, 1st Floor, Room 191, 1:15pm to 3:15pm. The meeting is open to the public.

The SMRN Exploratory Team will address the first CASE Learning for public square discourse in problem solving.

The Case: Revolts/Protests in Violence.
This is a PROACTIVE way to bring leadership, innovation, reform and problem solving to the public square table for the BP, State Fair, Mayfair and Bayshore incidents. CASE Learning approach is the brainchild of Mary Glass.

The members of the SMRN Exploratory Team, of which Banks, Methu and Mwepu are now members, will look at CASE data-situations, strategies, mindsets and opportunities for the BIG PICTURE along with others in the group that are youth-teens-young adults, older adults, sponsors and practitioners the next two months.

They are joined on September 10, 2011 by WI Public Defender Tom Reed, Milwaukee for CASE data.
