Dr. Rogers is an educator, historian and community servant.  He holds advanced degrees in theology and history.  He is a retired professor from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the Dept. of Africology and Milwaukee Theological Institute.  He is also a frequent community lecturer and writer on the African American experience.  His research focus is on the black church and its role in family and community empowerment.  His approach is designed to explore ideas from the past which can be used as contemporary tools for rebuilding families and communities.

Dr. Rogers is the co-founder and CEO of Nirvana Ministries and its affiliate Nirvana Institute.  The Institute develops after-school mentoring programs and curriculums for public and private schools.  It also contracts with social service agencies, churches, faith-based agencies and programs to assist with capacity building, grant writing and program evaluation. The ministry and agency are firmly rooted in family and community empowerment.  Dr. Rogers is a certified Program Evaluator for Nirvana Institute and has aided several community organizations in their capacity building agenda.

His role as a community activist and leader has been extensive and varied.  He has served on governing boards for many educational, religious, and family development programs throughout America.  He is President emeritus of the Wisconsin Black Historical Society and Museum and is chair emeritus of the Family House, Inc. of Milwaukee.

Nirvana Institute has recently developed an historical research organization called the Sankofa Historical Society.  The society produces an internet radio program called The Black Reality Think Tank.  The program is aired every Saturday from 4-6 pm on Blog Talk Radio.  Visit their website at www.brthink.com for specific login information.
