Safety Matters - Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC adds evaluation of Crime Patterns by Districts

City Center Milwaukee | Safety Matters is the plank for action in intervention and prevention of disruptions in the safety of the people and the environment they live in.  This includes the big picture of how to introduce "safety citizenship" for people-standardized and infrastructure curbing of violence and violent behaviors within census tracts-neighborhoods-districts.  It is recognizing the health-related aqnd political factors that influence behaviors and how best to recognize and call attention for the welfare of the person and the public.

It is the power of the people.  It is the power of people that is felt by the people.  It is attacking the fear and replacing it with tools-of-fix.  It is a core value.

The day-to-day safety intervention and prevention comes from and is driven by the citizenry.  If successful, it is led by and implemented by the People.   It is supported by the elected-appointed-hired representatives in government, especially city government in Milwaukee.  The health department, fire department, police department and fire and police commission.  They, with Skin-in-the-Game by the citizenry, need to insert the "change page" for making a difference in the neighborhoods.  The experts are the People.  The stakeholders are the people.  The taxpayers are the people.  The funding comes through and for the People. They, THE PEOPLE, have been left out.

Milwaukeeans at the census tract and neighborhood level have too often been alienated through disrespectful, dehumanizing, demonizing, victimizing and criminalizing acts by members of law enforcement and the justice system that is not "just-equal-reasonable-constitutional protective" when it comes to People of Color.

This creates a schizophenic void and stops engagement.  The bare facts renders the People "paralyzed" and non-productive.  Therefore, massive overhaul in customer-friendly and reasonableness endorsed by the people to communicate safety can be the ways and means.  The ways and means must be shared and accepted (buy-in) by the citizenry, law enforcement, those in the judicial system and mass media for public notice, transparency and stewardship.

One such dehumanizing and disrepectful practice by the city of Milwaukee is "Full court" line-up and positioning of police in the African American neighborhood.  This sends the "enslaved", "slavery concept" and "powerless" control of the plantation owner.  It is "disrespectful".  It must stop.  Period.  It cuts into our economic investments and send the wrong message to potential customers and investors.
The role and responsibilities of the police department are many to provide safety for Milwaukeeans and its visitors.  They become a part of the problem when they cease to remember who pays their salaries but for the long-haul, forget why they exist for ALL the people with satisfaction.

There are so many other ways to impart the service excellence of the police department that will garner support by most if not all the citizenry they are sworn to protect.  Ways and means that are both professional and citizen-sensitive.  We do not need bullies.  We do not need head-knockers, taser blasters, racial slurs and provocative actions to provoke wrong and claim justification,  rogue cops, excessive force or lethal executionists.  We need a professional group of women and men of all races well-trained, respectful of their sworn to duty, friendly, respectful, ready to assist, worthy of the title and hire by the People of the city of Milwaukee.  Yes. the mayor selects the chief and the common council Oks.  Both the mayor and common council are suppose to represent the people.

Confiscated Funds
Can we send messages of Safety/Crime Prevention?  Yes.  We should direct the largest amount of the confiscated funds back-into-the-neighborhood for citizen engagement and improved safety interventions.  Special funds geared to cut-down safety issues should be the focus rather than payment to wall street salaries of "over-time".  Herein lies the fruits of strategic planning and neighborhood engagement with tools - all 15 districts.  How about Neighborhood Safety Centers for collaborative efforts by all 170 neghborhoods and 15th District using data from the Journal Sentinel data App?

For the remainder of the year, 2014, MPA LLC will add feedback and creation for The People/Milwaukeeans and law enforcement engagement for in the district monthly meetings. The reporting will not only come to the People, mayor, Common Council, chief and district police representatives, fire and police commission; it will be part of quarterly and as needed reporting committees at the federal level for channeling funds and for what reasons.

Pre-cursor
Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC Safety Matters program is rooted in the All Hands on Deck, WE CAN Signature Action Initative.  It has five (5) tracks for human-civil-legal safety and customer protection.  They are:
  • STORYTELLING - The citizens' perspective.
  • RESPECT-4-RESPECT DOCTRINE - Give to get policy, No one's exempt.
  • REPEAL STAND YOUR GROUND LAW ( Moveon.org petition).
  • SAFETY MATTERS in Milwaukee District Facebook Page (15 districts).
  • In the Round w/Mg (Talk show)
"Killing/Murdering of our males is at an epidemic level across the USA.  In Milwaukee it has all too often been seen as out-of-belief in the scale of justification.  No ONE is "exempt" from prosecution for wrongdoings - especially taking someone's life.  The removal of life is of the highest order and when we become executioners in our police department; without address it sends out a clarion call for all to immediatelt address.  Quick fix os police placed on-leave while investigation take place (and paid) with assumed no consequence and no consequences of belief (law enforcers and ALL people) allows the out-of-control we see happening in Milwaukee and across the USA.  This is a major topic of completion.  Our elected officials, with Mayor Tom Barrett held top of the list for accountability and the People must demand law and order by all - RESPECT-4-RESPECT, said Mary Glass, Chair/CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC.

MPA LLC Consumer Protection Group
For the next year, March 2014-March 2015, MPA LLC is launching a year-long, city-wide census tract-neighborhood-district Safety Matters Campaign.  It will be pursued with LIKE-MINDS (those who see the benefit and want to enhance reform for Safety in Milwaukee) and collaborative ventures for the overall safety of the city of Milwaukee and economic Upscalability.  It is our going-forward effort to engage results by the 2015 National Consumer Protection Week that ends one part of its outreach today, March 8, 2014.  MPA LLC Safety Matters plank celebrated one year as a supporter of this national initiative.

The Safety Matters plank seek reform with innovation attached and enhancement.  Its foremost quest is to change the counter-productive image that both profile the Miwaukee Police department and likewise profile People of Color neighborhoods in Milwaukee.  This creates a domino effect on our economic and Enduring Concentrated Poverty that is well-documented each year with several reports from economists, bloggers, academic reporting and studies.

Social behaviors by both those at the census tract-neighborhood-district level bear role of responsibility of change.  To help ensure that funding allocated for various departments are actually getting to the root and overall change of the status quo.  The police department is one slice of the pie.  The ingredients of whole is where the results will come.  All Hands on Deck.

Communication and Engagement
The 2014-2015 NOW IS THE TIME theme is "work-in-progress" that calls for first outreach "invitations" for the regular attendance of district alderpersons, mayor, city attorney, municipal judges, public defender, district attorney, police union and media outlets (Community Journal, Milwaukee Journal, Milwaukee Times, El Conquistador, Spanish Times, Bay View, Riverwest, Journal Sentinel, Business Journal, Biz Journal, Urban Milwaukee, Neighborhood News, WNOV 860, 88NINE, WUWM, 91.7FM, Channel 4, 6, 10, 12, 58 and Clear Channel).

Egos and facades are asked to be left at the office of elected-appointed-hired and public square representatives.  This does not mean professionalism, knowedge of postion, and expectations of positions would not be brought to the table.  What is needed, would be how to merge the givens with new perspectatives to eradicate "profiling" and lawlessness in Milwaukee.  To fairly and truthfully engage leadership and customer care of all Milwaukeeans with the 14th Amendment and all laws that apply to the immunities and protections of the United States Constitution is what African American and other People of Color have been waiting to see.

Last year, 2013, MPA LLC Consumer Protection Group was created.  The focus for one year has been the Section 8 Housing Program of the city of Milwaukee - Milwaukee Housing Authority, its partners - builders, apartment buildings owners and the treatment of Section 8 customers in best practices and for compliance.  This includes the city of Milwaukee, state-level WHEDA, HUD local, regional and federal joint-involvement.  Safety measures relative to housing has a significant impact on safety and the use of resources (fire department, public health and police department).

The many nooks and crannies that make up the mystery of how complicated the "safety" process reveal how equally it should/could not be all so difficult if the stakeholders' finger print is front and center. Safety requires protocol that provides expectations in citizenship, ownership, scholarship, entrepreneurship, partnership and stewardship.  It is moment-to-moment, day-to- day and 365/7.  These are value-added building blocks that play a major role in facilitating a broad swath of skin-the-game participants and solidarity participation.

Safety communication, knowledge for communication will be disseminated to all (citizenry-schools-media-government-neighborhood-businesses) in the outreach campaign.  We ask for your participation.  Stay tuned to this blog.

The image of "discrimination" and "criminalizing" People of Color is detrimental and perpetuates an undercurrent that drives "profiling" and "stereotyping" of People of Color. It traps productivity with dispair.

Storytelling to document
Storytelling is one of the methods for documenting events for review, evaluating and reporting.  The Storytelling Library App is "in progress".

Journal Sentinel Safety/Crime Tool
This week, Mary Glass, Chair/CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC read about a tool (a crime App) shared with the public by the Journal Sentinel of Milwaukee.  The program has been around approximately a year.

It will be added as a must-view when visting www.mpapublicpolicyreview.blogspot.com pages of services and Milwaukee District Facebook page (www.facebook.com/milwdistrictpage), created by Miwaukee Professionals Association LLC.

Below is an article VIDEO that speaks of BALANCE, the desire for police customer service, stigma of law enforcement in African American neighborhoods, gross dislike of the fear of the violator - neighborhood citizens and police - rock and hard place.  CLICK
