Born Frees GEN Y - UCLA - Sy Stokes speaks Truth-to-Power Exclusion

November 13, 2013
UCLA - Los Angeles, CA |

UCLA Has More NCAA Championships Than Black Male Freshmen

Sy Stokes, junior, African American studies, UCLA, speaks out about the "institutional racism" on the campus of UCLA - University of California Los Angeles.  He and his fellow Born Frees Millennials shared their analysis of how they are NOT represented on a campus they were spending funds, chose to be their undergraduate alma mater, university that gained from their racial presence; and, a well-known university in a heavily People of Color city.  Their protest was through poem and  video.

Stokes is of a multi-racial background of African American, Cherokee/American Indian and Chinese/Asian.  He represents the growing Born Frees Gen Y Millennial population that represents integrated cultures and the patchwork of today's society.

Spoken Words
The eloquent words he speaks are "stinging" with truth-to-power and give numbers for clarity.
The words he speaks in the year of 2013 are the same equality and equity for African Americans spoken by UCLA and Black Panther students, John Huggins and Alprentice Carter in 1969.  They were both killed on UCLA campus in Campbell Hall, January 17, 1969.
The words by Stokes can be seen on TOO MANY campuses around the USA.  It further cripples USA overall economy and the USA to be competitive globally.  Competition that the GEN Y can use wisely.  It requires All Hands on Deck, WE CAN enforcement of best practices, transparency and accountable use of funding through bold and innovative reporting.

l-r:  Chancellor Gene Block - UCLA and Chancellor Michael Lovell - UW-Milwaukee
Jim Crow
In Milwaukee, MPA LLC have chronical the ongoing travesty of discrimination of training for African American in the city of Milwaukee public higher education.  The glaring oligopoly and monopoly take-over of funds generated by being in urban Milwaukee are at an all-time high for seizing real estate and public education funding at University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (8th Chancellor, Michael Lovell).  Lovell isolation is aided by uninformed and informed staff, well-connected, elected-appointed-hired-donor for hire supporters.

Lovell chief selector recently resigned - UW System President Kevin Reilly - He abruptly resigned after $$millions were reported unreported for the UW System.

UCLA Chancellor Gene Block's lack of 21st century leadership is discriminatory.  It is cupable in the collateral damages being spoken in the verbal poem by Sy Stokes and fellow students.   Block's behavior is seen as identical to the discriminatory behavior of Chancellor Michael Lovell of the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
Going Forward
MPA LLC applaud these young men for standing up and providing a light on a serious and intended consequence for African American males.

We ask that they continue to pursue their degree (s) with honor.
We ask that they prepare to "take the places of Chancellor Block, Chancellor Lovell and others around the USA".
We ask that the GEN Y on college campuses join us in solidarity for their HEALTH CARE sign-up of the Affordable Health Care law.

We ask that they do not fall for the hype that is out there against the law.  Yes. there are glitches for the start-up site.  If we work together, in spite of the doomsayers, we can CORRECT the flaws.

Just like Sy Stokes and brothers are speaking out about the injustices at UCLA to make it better for them and those who come after, we ask that they go to Healthcare.gov and continue to go until they are in the system with their parents (up to 26 years) or as an individual.  Why?  Because being healthy is first and foremost to being a winner.

In fact, call upon Chancellor Block and other Chancellors to be responsible with campus health care center to provide up-to-date information and outreach for the NEW health insurance law.   You and your fellow brothers and sisters on campuses around the USA can add to your portfolio by becoming volunteers and/or employees for sharing the Affordable Health Care information.

Further, seek avenues for becoming part of th career track for the Health Care industry - it is one of the main 21st Century career tracks - no matter what is being said.

We can not sit idle and continue to give a "pass" to those we have in leadership that look in the camera and extol virtues they fail to implement.
