Makda Fessahaye moving to UW-Milwaukee after submerging herself in wrongdoings of Employee Relations, Barrett, Johnson and Common Council

MARCH 7, 2022

One month from now and 2 days after the election between Cavalier Johnson and Bob Donovan for mayor of Milwaukee, Makda Fessahaye, Director of Employee Relations for the city of Milwaukee will move to a"cushy" public political position paid for by us again, the taxpayers.

Yes.  I am very disappointed.
What did we get from this 1-year $140,000 employee with a law degree and past president of WI Association of African American Lawyers that should of left us with at the very least:
  • A state of the art SEXUAL HARRASHMENT policy regarding elected and appointed staff working for the city of Milwaukee.
  • A statement that her office has thoroughly informed and trained the 6,000 city employees of the "new" policy as well as cleared the air of the 120-day insert.
  • Press Conference between her (Makda Fessahaye) office and city attorney Tearman Spencer's office to "clear the air" for public trust and healing.  Both are African American.  Both work for the city of Milwaukee.  Both are attorneys.  Both are new employees to the city - 1 year.
  • Public Relations - Removed the hostility between the Employee Relations and City Attorney's office.
  • Removed the stain of "gossip" and whispers of disgruntled staff.

  • Clear the air of the bizarre actions of city employee "Christian Thomas", ex-state public defender attorney, Channel 12, Hillary Mintz's "on-air" resignation.  His behavior was suspect = a "plant".
  • Without prejudice - Failure to provide the NEW city attorney with an appropriate roster of attorneys - even till now - when our city has backup cases from the previous administration and suits.  How do we get our city legal business up to expectation?  What have you been doing besides hobnobbing for your next appointed position?  You came from Tony Evers to Tom Barrett, Cavalier Johnson, Michael Murphy, personnel committee, common council, I guess you would be able to make the statements found in Urban Milwaukee of your "utmost honor".
CITY OF MILWAUKEE || Department of Employee Relation - Makda Fessahaye Director

The disappointed and long-awaited response from Director Makda Fessahaye will be shared in an UPCOMING article with BEFORE & AFTER title.
=========================

It has been my utmost honor to serve the City of Milwaukee under the leadership of former Mayor Tom Barrett and Mayor Cavalier Johnson,” said Fessahaye in an email to her coworkers. “I am grateful for Mayor Johnson’s leadership and support of me during my time with City and as I transition into this new role. Serving the City of Milwaukee and leading the brilliant team at the Department of Employee Relations has been nothing short of amazing.”
