Creating a Milwaukee Neighborhood-Friendly Television Media Model

JUNE 10, 2018
SUNDAY AFTERNOON || Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC announces its focus MODEL for media to show Neighborhood-Friendliness in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee lacks a Neighborhood-Friendly model for OPTIKS when television Media visit and broadcast its reports on the quality of life and economic development in neighborhoods of African American, American Indian, Asian, and Latino.

We frown on media headlines, teasers, captions, or social text at the citizenry expense.

BIAS Reporting
Competitiveness in reporting ought not to forget that the Broadcast network is part of the city network of neighborhoods and the advertisement is meant for the People to support.  Releasing a blanket statement of guilt due to the reporting of only the Milwaukee Police is just unacceptable due to their documented behavior - profiling, bullying, brutality, shooting-murdering, and cover-up of police behavior when in or dealing with African American and other People of Color.

Reporting with name-tags, code words, stereotypes, and biases convicts before trial and puts forth a perception not based on fact. It leaves a psychological imprint in the marketplace.  This is "Convicting in the media and the public square", increasing BIAS and creates/promotes stereotypes - unacceptable.

Act in the best interests of their clients and put their clients' interests above their own
Fiduciary Rule
We, the People expect the broadcasting networks to do due diligence before reporting - from a lost baby to a mass shooting in the neighborhood.  We look for and expect "exact circumstances behind the incident" that has been verified.

We ask the television directors of WDJT/58, MPTV/10 WISN/12, WTMJ/4, FOX6 or whoever makes the decision of what is sent out on their airwaves are mindful of the importance of "Bias CHECK-and-VERIFY" reporting.  It is NOT enough to just report what the police may say.  The report must give due diligence of the station to collaborate with others on the scene, those involved - family members, neighbors, business owners, and bystanders.  Investigation in the reporting.

Lastly, we ask that BIAS Training is part of the HR training of the entire staff at each of the broadcasting stations.

Just as MPA LLC is conducting a follow-up of Starbucks Bias Training, an upcoming JUNETEENTH MONTH Smart Media Conversation will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018.  MORE to come.
