Show 67 reviewed the third annual Milwaukee Consortium for Hmong Health conference on health education and screening.  
Empowering Asian American Families:  Saving Lives through Education and Screening

The collaboration of Milwaukee Consortium for Hmong Health, Southeast Asian Educational Development of WI, Inc, and partners presented the audience with medical professionals who talked about various cancers and chronic illnesses seen in the Hmong and other Asian cultures - Laotian and Myanmar-Burmese.

In the three (3) Breakout Sessions, participants were able to visit a Healthy Lifestyle, the four (4) cancers, and chronic illness session.  The topics were:
  • Breast and Cervical Cancer
  • Liver Cancer
  • Colon Cancer
  • 2nd Generation Diabetes
  • Hepatitis B
  • Hypertension

In addition to the speakers, there were health and employment vendors, youth dancers and tasty foods.

The event was held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Italian Community Center, 631 E. Chicago Street, Milwaukee, WI  53202.
Plans are on the way for the 4th Annual Conference, April 6, 2019.
