FEMA THINK TANK Deputy Serino sent Open Letter from Milwaukee Professionals Association
February 2, 2012
MILWAUKEE - Today, Mary Glass, Chair/CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association, forwarded an Open Letter to Deputy Administrator Richard Serino, Department of Homeland Security - FEMA and noted that her office will assist in the FEMA THINK TANK Conference Calls that the FEMA Think Tank members are having in cities across America (next stop, San Francisco, CA). Also, that Milwaukee Professionals Association will seek neighborhood-level collaborations for the Milwaukee area as well as neighbors to the northeast.
Glass made her decision relative to listening to a video by President Barack Obama and her impromptu visit at the FEMA THINK TANK kick-off on January 26, 2012 at UW-Milwaukee that excluded African American, other People of Color, the Work Challenged as well as our neighbors in Glendale, Shorewood and Whitefish Bay. These are families that experienced returning floods recently that cost families major losses - their home.
"I spoke on open-mike during the Conference Call and shared my disappointment. I also gave four points I thought should be included," said Glass. "Afterwards, I had the opportunity of speaking with Deputy Serino and Lawrence C. Reed III, Director, Bureau of Planning and Preparedness. They both spoke strongly of the need that I had voiced as well as encouraged involvement. So it is."
Stay tuned.
