TODAY'S PRIMER - Lisa Kaiser's Walker Rewards
Click photo to enlarge.
Since ex-County Executive Scott Walker became WI Governor Scott Walker, he has been busy with a cloud of smoke-and-mirrors bomb throwing.
He has presented Wisconsinites with surprise-after-surprise that defies geniune thought for making Wisconsin a viable and "economic" state that is growing in quality of life and economic development issues.
He seems to have found a myraid of placements from the Green Bay area.
Also, around his table are real estate barons, construction giants, strangle-hold commerce lobbyists, well-off (for now) retirees, stay-at-home moms, skimming the top voucher seekers, bogus (so far) pledge for job development (on Caucasians) and on and on.
He was on CNBC Squawk Box for 2 hours, June 21, 2011.
Governor Walker engaged in "spin w-squawk". He gave the picture that he came from Milwaukee County (county executive)with such a glowing record of success - so successful he was elected 3 times. Along with the, "We are Moving On with great guns of progress Message". NOT.
Facts Checked at Door
What about the dismal shape Milwaukee County was in "while he was County Executive". And the dismal shape it was left in. He rolled into the County Executive seat due to the failures of ex-County Executive Tom Ament. It was more of the outrage of the people feeling fleeced and disconnected.
At the rate he is going, someone will do the same to him at the State level.
On Squawk Box, the governor's facts were checked at the door - debt mounted, massive layoffs, dismal to no services, unkempt McDonnell Park structure that unfortunately killed a Wisconsinite, park and other services in disrepair, concentrated poverty in City of Milwaukee - 5 to 10 times higher unemployment than state rate, spatial mismatch, quality of life and economic development issues (connecting transit to employment in suburb - same ones he has provided additional breaks, incentives and contract opportunities).
New Commerce Department
"Is this department open, said Mary Glass, Chair/CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association?" "I have tried to make contact with Secretary Paul Jadin - NO RESPONSE." "I have contacted Governor Walker's office for response - expecting outreach for the Open for Business claim - instead receiving a perfunctory email E-REPLY ONLY." "Additionally, I have sought communication to the newly formed WEDC-Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (of which Governor Walker is the head)." NO RESPONSE. "Is that 'conflict of interest' in view of the above cartoon and the review given his rewards in Lisa Kaiser's article?"
In today's unrest, "Bamboozling" can be fatal to a politician when he/she least expect.
After reading Lisa Kaiser's article in this week's Shepherd Express, our cartoon is above. See how close we are.
