May 1 - May Day
May Day - May 1, 2011, Associated Press, Star Telegram, By VERENA DOBNIK.
In South Korea, police said 50,000 people rallied in Seoul for better labor protections. The people also urged the government to contain rising inflation, a growing concern across much of Asia, where food and oil prices have been spiking and threatening to push millions of people into poverty.
Thousands of workers also marched in Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
1956 - Founding Principle
MPA - Milwaukee Professionals Association reminds the highest public school, UW-Milwaukee, that its Mission and State Statute 36.01(1)(2) calls for inclusion of all.
The almost 8,000 employees (839 faculty, 768 instructional academic staff, 850 administrative staff, 1,253 graduate assistants, 2,964 student workers, and 1,149 classified personnel) of UW-Milwaukee represents a minute amount of African American, other People of Color and the Work-Challenged from the City of Milwaukee - the namesake - the 1956 founding promise. All one has to do is look at who is at the various point-of-sale, classroom faculty, law enforcement, food court, student workers, technical assistants, custodial and on.
It is time for a change.
