CDBG - Your Dollars - LEARN ABOUT THE PROCESS for Neighborhood-Control Implementations and Accountability

A simple story that explains how CDBG funding works. What are Big City and Small Town going to do about crumbling infrastructure and joblessness?

Do you know who/what organization provides the ENTITLEMENT FUNDING for your neighborhood?  You should.

To make the above information work, YOU MUST WORK - STEWARDSHIP.
Yes.  You need to know what is out there.
Why it is there.
Who/What is required for participation?
Who is empowered at the city level to coordinate the dollars for Milwaukee?
What role you can and must accept for commitment to ensure due process, compliance and ongoing services needed.

The process is NOT as easy as said; however, it is often filled with "CRONYISM" competitiveness that must be dealt with on a SMACK-DOWN level.

Your success has a lot to do with "what you know" and "what you and your neighborhood" will help to enforce.  Therefore, you MUST organize with "commitment" of time involved - start with at least ONE YEAR and a HALF.

Here are 4 steps to start with.
  1. First of all, you must organize by selecting a neighborhood oversight committee, note and enforce the Oath of Office of your Alderperson, the mayor, and the FULL common council.
  2. Secondly, enforce accountability of the HUD/CDBG office, by meeting on a regular basis for appropriate Introductions (HUD field staff and city staff), ongoing planning, training, federal updates, communication with HUD/CDBG city director and staff members.
  3. Thirdly, Outreach to others - city HUD offices, city elected official of your district, city hired staffers for HUD/CDBG, fellow stakeholders, recipients within your neighborhood, donors of all kind, and the staff selected to run your Neighborhood Strategic Planning group.
  4. Fourthly, Check to see if you are located in a "special zone", i.e., Empowerment Zone.  If so, invest time in reviewing each zone's prerequisites, benefits, and mandates.
Yeah.  Stewardship, Leadership, and Citizenship.

Follow-the-Money - Where is the Economic Renaissance for Milwaukeeans in Transportation and Employment?

JULY 13, 2018

CITY-WIDE MILWAUKEE || Where is the Economic Renaissance in EMPLOYMENT and TRANSPORTATION for Milwaukeeans?

Where is the proof of  "Economic Renaissance" for Milwaukeeans the Core Constituents-stakeholders-taxpayers-owners of the city coffers?
What do they get for the $128 million plus for "The Hop Scam"?

Too Much Given/Stolen
Where are the "Economic Renaissance" reports from Northwestern Mutual Life, BMO, The Bucks Arena projects, Couture-Moderne projects, Mandel properties, Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, Gilbane, The Ambassador, Marcus Corporation, Johnson Control, Marriott, Collier's International, Greater Milwaukee Realtor Association, Milwaukee Real Estate Investors Association, Harley Davidson, that gives the impressive numbers of African American, other People of Color, and Work Challenged Milwaukeeans that worked as strategists, developers, architects, designers, employment agencies, financial agents, realtors, prime contractors, subcontractors,  tradesperson, consultants, and long-term employees from the neighborhoods - 15 districts - of the city of Milwaukee?

Where is the "connectivity" of the Upfront  "Economic Renaissance"
with Employ Milwaukee, Compete Milwaukee, and Milwaukee Urban Strategies for starters?
=====================
Gousha said, ". . . It want be moving people back and forth to jobs, so who do you think will ride"?  Tom Barrett's response, "The more jobs we have in the heart of the city, the more it will be relevant to workers".

Update July 13, 2018
How can Milwaukeeans feel that they are at the core value of the "Economic Renaissance" with a detached statement made by the top position holder of the city government of Milwaukee?

Does it sound like he has strategic planning of Economic Renaissance that included Amani, Midtown, Metcalfe, Center Street, Midtown, North Milwaukee, West Milwaukee, South Milwaukee, Sherman Park OR Walker's Point and Harambee with substance and with specificity?

What about our children - childcare through teens?
What about the water/lead crisis?
What about the flooding issues?
What about the ongoing "bad actors" of the Milwaukee Police Department?
What about the seniors and re-entry workers that were retired?
What about the Vets, Mentally ill and HOMELESS?
What about the young adults/Millennials of Color?
What about zip code 53206 Incarceration neighborhood families?

What about the "Fatherhood Initiative with ex-assistant, Terence Ray?
What about the OAAA/Office of African American Affairs Initiative stalled in the Department of Administration - Sharon Robinson, Director and co-oped with stalls by Chris Abele, Milwaukee County Executive/Nicole M Brookshire, Director.

What about MPA LLC 7-month NO-RESPONSE (your office via Nick Ramos) contact with your office regarding discrimination, lack of citizen engagement, spending taxpayer dollars, rigidity and suspicious economic development/housing with Paula Kiely, Joan Johnson, Sam McGovern-Rowen and Board of Milwaukee Public Library; and, Kiely/Board refusal to allow MPA LLC to share the 3-year case study of TINN - Team Internet Net Neutrality BROADBAND Initiative for the Underserved Users at a monthly meeting.

What about the failed Employment Center at 27th & North - Earl Buford and Willie Wade?  Buford recently jumped ship.  Who knows about Wade?

What about a North/South BRT that would take Milwaukeeans to family-supporting jobs in areas like Menomonee Falls?

What about the STALLED Bronzeville Renaissance?

What about the BOGUS Add-on Streetcar of MLKing Drive and Walker's Point? Cut the smoke-n-mirror, bait-n-switch, and Willie Lynch modeling for People of Color of the city of Milwaukee.
The above critical quality of life and ECONOMIC issues are for starters.

What FINAL reports of an Impact Study of HIRED Milwaukeeans in all of the "Economic Renaissance" projects downtown - start to finish, the neophyte to experienced entrepreneur (not just set-aside)?  Where are the reports to back up your GLEE Tom?

A never before IMPACT of Economic Renaissance for the Core Constituents would alleviate the strain of Under- and Un-employment in neighborhoods of high-density poverty that is the "Petri Dish" for fearsome behavior bordered by violence, drugs, addictions, post-traumatic syndromes, and HOPELESSNESS.

"Impact" to justify GLEE and a true surge for pronouncing an Economic Renaissance in the city of Milwaukee.

Where Tom Barrett should be licking his chops of TRUE LEADERSHIP in Milwaukee are listed above.  Yes.  Tom, you may not be delusional, but you definitely have Misplaced values and you have by design taken those who have thrown "Greater Milwaukee" in front of their names as the Electorate.
They are NOT Mayor Thomas Mark Barrett.

The Core Constituents are within the 96.83 square miles of the city and in the above neighborhoods.

We did not hear Tom's glee to be INCLUSIVE of the above neighborhoods except their "millions of federal dollars" as he did with the shameful "The HOP" and its connectors, i.e., Northwestern Mutual, BMO, Potowatomi Casino Hotel, and Bucks advantage?

Therefore, those of us who take this as a true Offense/Violation to your office Oath must do all that is expected to Call you out and plan your removal come the year 2020 - Unlike the Recall last year.

CITY-WIDE MILWAUKEE || The video is in, take a look and see for yourself how YOU/We have been "HAD".

We, The People are MISSING - and have been by DESIGN missing.  Core Constituents.

Milwaukee's slow response to troubling lead level reports sparks outrage

click
Parents in Milwaukee say city leaders aren't doing enough to protect their kids from lead. While the national average for lead poisoning is about three percent, more than 11 percent of Milwaukee's children in 2016 suffered from it. Wisconsin health officials are reviewing Milwaukee's lead prevention program after several reports highlighted deficiencies in keeping lead away from kids.
Milwaukee's mayor said lead from paint is the city's primary concern since lead-based paint is in at least 100,000 homes. Some residents are also worried about lead pipes, even though the water is treated to keep the lead out, reports CBS News' Adriana Diaz. One of those residents is Aminah Al-Mujaahid, who painstakingly prepares water for her family, filtering it pitcher by pitcher.

What the Mayor has said with a microphone in front of him is NOT what his track record shows.  He has been "indifferent" and lacking "due diligence".

MILWAUKEEANS - majority African American and other People of Color had their federal dollars for the improvement of their quality of life and economic development issues taken and misplaced for the BOGUS Streetcar, "The Hop".

The Hop is about a publicity stunt for notoriety with the Potawatomi Casino Hotel name and - The Rabbit out of the hat.
It is also the mega plan of Tom Barrett and cronies, Milwaukee 7, MMAC-Milwaukee Metropolitan Association of Commerce, GMC-Greater Milwaukee Committee and MEDC-Milwaukee Economic Development Corporation for starters.

The glorified reference of "Economic Renaissance" by Tom Barrett is REPREHENSIBLE, DISRESPECTFUL and uninclusive to the Core Constituents of Milwaukee - the ones that are the electorate and major source for the federal funding - African American,  People of Color and Work Challenged taxpayers.

So, "What" is Tom Barrett, Mayor, talking about?
Look at who is in the still photo with Barrett and Bob Bauman, Alderman. Listen to what and who Barrett references with glee.
The Moderne and 11,450 apartments are the focus of his 'economic renaissance'.  These are spaces $1,480 - $3,450 per month.
Below gives an overview of Milwaukee's population mired in Enduring Concentrated Poverty with a Per Capita Income of $20,638.

Who should he be talking about in this video?

UPFRONT W/MIKE GOUSHA & TOM BARRETT

Milwaukeeans are too quiet.  On the merits, you MUST OPEN YOUR MOUTH & SPEAK TRUTH TO CON GAME by Tom Barrett, Ashanti Hamilton, Common Council for starters

JULY 9, 2018
CITY-WIDE MILWAUKEE || It is the day-after the aired Upfront interview with Tom Barrett by Mike Gousha, Channel 12.

It is super important that MILWAUKEEANS begin to "TAKE BACK their city" and install "worthy" charter officers.

It is mandatory that steps are taken at the ballot box 2018-2020, however, every day your voice should be heard at 414.286.2200 - Tom Barrett - Mayor and 414.286.2228 - Ashanti Hamilton - Common Council President to let these two AND your Alderperson (414.286.2221) what time it is in your neighborhood, on your street, and in your house.

Call out and Speak up
These are the Cap Notes from the Upfront Show w/Mike Gousha, Channel 12, with Tom Barrett,  Mayor, Sunday, July 8, 2018.

The false message, smoke n mirrors and lack of leadership and commitment to the Core Constituents of Milwaukee spoke to the ongoing hypocrisy and talking points of Tom Barrett.

He speaks in the clouds.
He speaks of the dreams and takeover of his cronies and those who met at the Milwaukee Renaissance Luncheon and claimed partial victory in their 12 years take-over of assets, resources, real estate, laws and governing agents to provide for a DOWNTOWN Milwaukee for wealthy Caucasians like Mandel properties, Collier's International, Potawatomi, Harley Davidson, Northwestern Mutual, Johson Control, MEDC, MMAC, Gale Klappa-Milwaukee 7, and the billionaire Bucks owners.

They came together through the all-Caucasian Milwaukee 7 (Tom was a Co-leader), MMAC with the leadership of Tim Sheehy, and Caucasian lead GMC for 12 years plotted HOW to increase their wealth of corporate members such as Northwestern Mutual and the Bucks ( Herb Kohl and billionaires), do your homework and CALL THEM OUT.

They ALL came through your backdoor/MILWAUKEEANS to your kitchen table and have stolen much of your wealth through real estate, tax increment districts, special and giant loans from funding sources with your name on it and put in place to empower the residential and commercial stakeholders of Milwaukee.

You got decades of Involuntary Servitude and they got towering million dollar condos and skyscrapers, automatic laws in their favor, and branches of government - DCD, DPW, DOA, DNS with thousands of paid public employees you pay for (many you see morning and evening on I-94 and I-43 taking taxes to their out-of- Milwaukee homes.

Who's Accountable?
Tom, Ashanti, the Common Council and the gang of thieves have placed a giant sucking ATM through your entitlement pocketbooks and personal city coffers.  It is time to sweep the docket CLEAN.  Do your homework.

Tom Barrett told Mike Gousha of a giant plan with excitement with the federally funded "The Hop" to be driven in a useless circle downtown.  He did not speak of how it is mandatory because of how it will put unemployed and UNDEREMPLOYED Milwaukeeans to work.  He only mentions it because Gousha asked about it.  Barrett had NO REAL SUBSTANCE when Gousha asked about the "severe LEAD" problem - laterals, land, and in our bodies - the bodies of our young.  He seems eager to "get rid of Dr. Patricia McManus.  Not all the interview is mentioned in the Recap but READ what he said.

Do not know why the video is not available.  But, as soon as Susan MacDonald, Mike Gousha office gets back to MPA LLC, we will share.

The Cap Notes are taken from Channel 12.  Click

". . . Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said the city is experiencing an "economic renaissance," and the controversial streetcar project is part of the boom.

Rails for the first route have been laid, the first cars have arrived, and the city says the public will soon see testing of the system. The streetcar is expected to begin full-time operations and open to the public this fall.

"You think eventually you can win over the critics?" Gousha asked the mayor.

“Well I'm not going to win over all the critics, but what I want people to realize is that the streetcar is really part of a vision. And I think what you are seeing right now, being executed, in the heart of the city is that vision, because we're in the midst of an economic renaissance unlike anything we've in our lifetime," Barrett said.

Gousha also asked Barrett about the city's lead-in-water problem. Many homes in the city get drinking water from antiquated lead pipes, and the city’s health department has been under fire over its handling of the issue.

"How are you going to restore public confidence that you're doing the right thing, that kids' lives aren't being put in jeopardy?" Gousha said.

"At every juncture if there's been an issue with lead, I've talked to the public about it, because trust is so important. Are there problems? Yes there are problems. Have they been solved? Not all of them, but I do think will be, absolutely yes," Barrett said."
===========
It is mandatory that each voting and non-voting Milwaukeean know about and discusses their sustainability in the economic and quality of life issues controlled by the city government - they make laws and they spend your money - city coffers and federal funding programs (millions-on-top-of-millions)

Do NOT forget, call and let your INPUT be heard to drive up your quality of life and economic development in your home, school, block, street, neighborhood city.  I look forward to hearing about your "due diligence" - calls, input on Facebook, Tweeter, LinkedIn, NextDoor, etc. and in various reporting spots.

MORE TO COME.
Do your part.  Ask the hard questions and demand accountability from this point forward.  That includes seeing that Tom, Ashanti, the Common Council feet are held to scrutiny and right now laws are applied for their misuse of powr and use of funds without your authority.

THE CANDIDATE - Session II

Candidate for Mayor Tony Zielinski was the office seeker with us during the SMART Conversation on BIAS June 30, 2018.

His Opening Statement included:
Good morning Mary,
There are a number of studies that list the worst places to live in the United States if you are African American.   We know that Detroit and Cleveland are on the list but can people name another city that is ranked even worse for African Americans?
Milwaukee!

Milwaukee cannot be a great city if 43% of its population has it worse here than just about any other place in the country.  And I am telling people on the east side, west side, and south side that we must come together as a community to focus on bringing up the central city.

I will give you an example of how the central city has not been the priority. What is the biggest challenge in the central city? Jobs. What is the biggest challenge to get to those jobs? Transportation.

So does the city invest in the largest single infrastructure transportation project in its history in the central city to get people to jobs? No.  Instead, they build it in the downtown area.  And what is worse the central city is helping to pay for it.
===========
===========
The robust dialog speaks to BIAS and what can be done with impactful leadership.

We found Candidate Tony Zielinski initial comments on quality of life and economic development NEW and worthwhile from a candidate.  As the weeks, months, and next year or so moves on, we will follow "his tweaking" of his message, his outreach to the parents, students, businesses and stakeholders of Milwaukee.

Our next BIAS SMART Conversation and Follow-up of Starbucks will be announced within the next two weeks.

Special THANKS to the Honorable Clayborn Benson of Wisconsin Black Historical Society Museum - A jewel located in the Amani Neighborhood, 2620 W. Center Street, Milwaukee, WI  53206.

We also THANK METRO MART - Van Buren for the REFRESHMENTS.

History Channel - DETROIT Comeback City - An Opportunity to spring alive by African American Detroiters

Michigan Central Station

July 2, 2018
CITY-WIDE MILWAUKEE || Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC salutes the thinkers coming forward with 4th/5th Generation of Manufacturing technologies.

African Americans, must remember the exodus by Ford to the suburb and left the African American population disenfranchised.  Therefore, they are to be sure that the stakeholders, Detroiters - those who live in Detroit, have majority ownership with engaged and committed Detroiters with a "permanent fingerprint" on the new plans for the Corktown Neighborhood to global autonomous travel.  Young-middle-seniors join together for your protection against obsolescence and being kicked to the curb, said Mary Glass, Chief Visionary Officer, MPA LLC.
