“We Need Emergency Resources Now:” NYC Health Chief on Fighting Monkeypo...

21 DAYS OF WAIT for Monkeypox Orthopoxvirus incubation

August 4, 2022

MILWAUKEE COUNTY || MONKYPOX has arrived big time in New York, Illinois, and California.

It has arrived in Wisconsin with a count of 22, Milwaukee County with 4 individuals and 3 in the city of Milwaukee.  Given the slow pace of tracking, screening, and vaccinations, we can be sure there are others undiagnosed.

A sense of urgency is wise for those planning and managing outcomes for treating public health and those charter officers with the responsibility of safety at the city-county-state-federal level.

Milwaukee County Supervisor Peter Burgelis has placed an alarm to those responsible for protecting the population.
Given what local municipalities learned during the COVID pandemic, I’m encouraged to see continued collaboration for the outbreak, and I urge the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to prioritize Milwaukee County residents for expanded vaccine availability. The LGBTQ and Milwaukee County community need every available resource to be healthy and protected from this outbreak.”  Supervisor Peter Burgelis, Milwaukee County.

Dr. Ben Weston, Milwaukee County and Kirsten Johnson, Director of the Health Department City of Milwaukee should use the errors of the past COVID pandemic in the area that highlighted the lack of outreach to African Americans and others, training, and behavior patterns of the public in vaccination to guide relief, said Mary Glass, Chief Visionary Officer, MPA-LLC.  Use of funding, African American and People of Color journalism, and EPA resources were NOT used wisely.
