JUNETEENTH NOT FOR SALE - PART I , 50 YEARS

If You’re Ready (Come Go with Me) Lyrics

If you're ready
If you're ready now
If you're ready, yeah
Come on go with me

No hatred (come go with me)
Will be tolerated (come go with me)
Peace and love come go with me
Will grow between the races (come go with me)

Love is the only transportation
To where there's total communication
If you (come go with me)
Get ready now (come go with me)
Feel you're able (come go with me)
Take me by my hand, y'all (come go with me)
No disaster (come go with me)
Will ever enter there (come go with me)
No wars (come go with me) uh huh
Would ever be declared (come go with me)

No economical exploitation
And no political domination

If you (come go with me)
Get ready now (come go with me) yeah
Think you're able (come go with me)
Come on go with me (come go with me)

Oh, oh, oh genocide (come go with me)
Lord, better get ready now (come go with me)
Troublemaker (come go with me)
You, you better get ready now (come go with me)
Liars (come go with me) oh
I'm waitin' on ya (come go with me)
Backstabbers now (come go with me)
Come and go with me (come go with me)
Don't bother me (come go with me)
Quit your system troublin', yeah (come go with me)
Yeah, weary need a rest (come go with me)
Yeah, come on y'all, come on y'all (come go with me)
Yeah, if you wanna be free here, all right (come go with me)
Come on go with me (come go with me)
Ow, oh, oh, ah (come go with me)
Come on go with me (come go with me)
See, I'm just movin' on (come go with me)
I'm just movin' on (come go with me)
Groovin' on (come go with me)
I can't help it but I'm movin'(come go with me)

Abstract:
Northcott Neighborhood House, sponsored by the Women’s Society of the Methodist Church, opened in September 1961. It is a multi-service center similar to the old Settlement House located in Milwaukee’s black community. Its goal is to cultivate grassroots leadership at the neighborhood level. It developed programs in group social work, individual counseling, daycare, a re-sale shop, volunteer work for teenagers, discussion groups for adults, and sponsors 20 clubs for children. It relies on volunteers to maintain its work.

The Reverend Lucius Walker served as the first director of the Northcott Neighborhood House from 1961-1967. While there, he was active in various ecumenical and social welfare groups, lectured in urban sociology and social welfare at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and was one of the leaders in the fight for civil rights. He left Northcott in September 1967 for a position in Harlem.

Local organizer speaks on the importance of Juneteenth, its tradition
Mac Weddle, Ex-Executive Director - Northcott
======================
"We just have to keep it out there and make sure our young people understand what Juneteenth is all about, yeah we have fun, yeah it's a party, but there is a whole lot of history behind it," he said.

"If the cruelties of slavery could not stop us, the opposition we now face will surely fail. Because the goal of America is freedom, abused and scorned tho' we may be, our destiny is tied up with America's destiny." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

It is imperative that we respect the memories, the people, and the culture of African Americans.

Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC/MPA-LLC takes the responsibility as a researcher and fact-finder to acknowledge the 50 years in NORTHCOTT Neighborhood.

YES. We WELCOME
the visitors, businesses, partners, and sponsors that REMEMBER and honor the legacy.  This requires UNDERSTANDING our history - what this day means to African Americans - the enslaved Americans.  How this day reminds ALL individuals of African Americans WAITING for 2 years.

MUCH MORE TO COME.
