ANOTHER DEATH @ 10th and Wells

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN || Within three years, two traffic crashes have taken place at Wells & 10th Street in Milwaukee.

October 12, 2022

A car crash at 10th & Wells caused the death of Pastor Aaron Strong, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1209 N. Broadway - corner of Broadway and Juneau.  A reckless driver drove through a green light.

January 25, 2020

A former sheriff's deputy who drove through a red light as he left the courthouse last year and killed another driver will spend six months in jail as part of two years on probation.

Joel Streicher, 51, was northbound on N. 10th St. on Jan. 25, 2020, in a sheriff's SUV when he struck Ceasar Stinson as he drove east on W. State St. Stinson, 47, was a Milwaukee Public Schools lobbyist and community activist.

Red light and a previous on-duty crash 

Streicher was northbound on North 10th Street on Jan. 25, 2020, in a sheriff's SUV when he ran a red light and struck Stinson as he drove east on West State Street. 

Stinson, 47, was a Milwaukee Public Schools lobbyist and community activist.

Streicher was charged that May with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle, punishable by up to five years in prison and five years of probation. He resigned from the sheriff's office in October and pleaded guilty in January.

Call for report

We ask that the Sheriff's department take a close look at if there are some Safety Prevention and Safety interventions that need to be implemented to prevent another death at this light.
