Text4Baby shoutout for April's theme

March 31, 2015

Dear MARY,

April is National Minority Health Month, raising public awareness about health and health care disparities that continue to affect racial and ethnic minorities. Through a partnership with the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH), Text4baby will be a part of many activities designed to bring attention to minority health, including social media and blog posts.

Text4baby has always been a resource for minority populations, through the option to receive messages in Spanish, key outreach partners in communities, and our ability to reach moms in high poverty areas, many of whom are members of minority groups. Research evaluating a sample of our over 40,000 Spanish-speaking participants shows that these users report high levels of satisfaction with Text4baby.

I hope that during National Minority Health Month, our partners will take the opportunity to assess the ways in which they are reaching families in racial and ethnic minority communities.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Murphy, Partner Outreach Director, Text4baby
National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition
