Dear MARY,
February is National African American History Month, honoring the accomplishments of African Americans throughout the history of our country. The month also provides an opportunity to increase educational opportunities designed to reduce health disparities in the African American community. Learn more about the month on the website for the Office on Minority Health in the Department of Health and Human Services.
An African American baby is twice as likely to die before its first birthday than a white baby, regardless of mother's education and income level. Text4baby works to help address this issue and provide key educational messages to help keep mom and baby healthy. Check out our website to learn more about how Text4baby is reaching the African American community.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Murphy, Partner Outreach Director, Text4baby
