Off-color jokes with race-on-the-brain

Staff of ex-County Executive Scott Walker
February 19, 2014
Today, we see emails of what "hired public servants" of County Executive Scott Walker and a Michael Best & Friedrich paralegal shared in disrespect of those they work for, their positions and themselves. The emails were vile, cheap and inappropriate.  They were made by Chief of  Staff - Thomas Nardelli (ex-Alderman of Milwaukee), Deputy Chief of Staff - Kelly Rindfleisch and a paralegal - Kelly Teelin at Michael Best & Friedrich.

"Frankly, the irresponsible racists comments speak of the sophomoric thinking and wayward minds of those who made the statements in email.  It is clear that they had much too much time on hand, not fit for the positions held and did not have or value their role and responsibility to serve the People. The sleazy references by Teelin and Nardelli and agreement by Rindfleishch spoke of how they were three  insecure individuals.  As a Milwaukeean who is African American, I do get tired of the we-are all that by some Caucasians.  It is a sign of lack of class," said Mary Glass, Chair/CEO, Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC.
=====================

Below are comments by Nardelli when he ran for mayor - apparently, he forgot his upbringing.

"One thing about Tom, he's an honest guy," said Dominic Frinzi, an attorney who has known Nardelli since he was a boy. "He's a man of integrity.  He's firm in his positions and he's a straight shooter."

"I'm proud of my heritage," said Nardelli, 59. "I grew up around hard-working people with Christian values."

"Some people take themselves too seriously," he said. "If you think you're better than anyone you serve, then you probably shouldn't be in office."
============================

in 2010 emails - racist and disparaging comments that include reference to dogs, unemployment, speaking English and fatherless are the target of  this article.

Journal Sentinel
According to the Journal Sentinel, Lee Bergguist, there were emails shared by Nardelli, Teelin and Rindfleisch.

Here are disclosures contained in emails made public on Wednesday as part of former Scott Walker aide Kelly Rindfleisch's appeal of her 2012 conviction of misconduct in office for doing campaign work on county time.
- In April 2010, Michael Best & Friedrich paralegal Kelly Teelin sent Rindfleisch a joke about someone whose dogs supposedly qualified for welfare because they are “mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can’t speak English and have no frigging clue who their Daddys are.”
Rindfleisch wrote back: “That is hilarious. And so true.”
- In another email, sent in July 2010, Thomas Nardelli, Walker chief of staff for Walker at Milwaukee County, forwarded Rindfleisch and others a joke about someone who has a nighmare about turning into a black, Jewish, disabled gay man. “Oh God, please don’t tell me I’m a Democrat,” the email concludes.

- Walker’s operatives made it clear they favored Brett Davis over Rebecca Kleefisch — the ultimate winner — in the race of lieutenant governor. On March 2, 2010, Rindfleisch, who was working part time for Davis, wrote Gilkes asking whether Kleefisch would be allowed to use material for advertising from a campaign event Walker and Kleefisch attended.
“I know she’s the bane of your existence. But I have a question. Will Kleefisch be allowed to use anything for the event for advertising? Like post it on Facebook, TV commercial, etc.,” Rindfleisch wrote to Gilkes.
“I’m REALLY beginning to dislike her,” Rindfleisch wrote to Gilkes.
The next day, Gilkes wrote back, “No — that will be made abundantly clear to her.”
Then, in June 2010, Gilkes wrote to Rindfleisch: “We are not touching anything to do with Kleefisch — she is radioactive and not worth the time.”
Davis’ campaign should “work on Mayor Ross and turn it into a two person race to kick her ass,” Gilkes wrote, referring to then-Superior Mayor Dave Ross, who is now Walker’s secretary of safety and professional services.

1. Wisconsin Drug Disposal bill passes WI Senate

Wisconsin’s drug disposal bill, one of several bills aimed at curbing the epidemic of heroin addiction, passed the Senate on February 18th. The bill now awaits the Governor’s signature.

The bill provides for the state Department of Justice to approve policies for those collecting drugs from households, with certain collectors being exempt. The bill allows for mail-back and multi-jurisdictional collection programs. The bill also would allow individuals (other than the person who receives a prescription for controlled substances) to legally possess controlled substances for purposes of disposal. If signed, the new law would take effect in July 2015, assuming that the federal Drug Enforcement Administration adopts similar provisions under the federal Controlled Substances Act.

WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM – A waste of time and resources

President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan - Nigeria
Nigeria Paper
February 17, 2014

WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM – A waste of time and resources

There is nothing more wasteful than doing diligently what should not be done at all.” President Jonathan took a plane load, or more, of people to Davos, Switzerland for what was billed as the World Economic Forum, WEF.
The entourage included several ministers, some governors, captains of industry and others too numerous to mention. Although it is billed as a global forum for tackling worldwide economic problems, it is nevertheless noteworthy that not all the presidents or prime ministers were in attendance. The reason is not difficult to discover.
The WEF had in recent years become a forum for the well-employed, well-paid and well-fed to gather and take care of their own interests – while pretending that they care about the jobless, the poor and those without hope.
Yet, the number of unemployed people globally has been increasing every year for over 10 years and the distribution of wealth has become increasingly skewed in favour of the wealthy and against the middle class and the poor.
Some of the reasons are clear. Virtually all the major multi-nationals in Davos were in search of nations where they would receive all sorts of heavy incentives before deciding to establish factories which are capital-intensive and employ few people – even though job creation was usually the reason for granting the concessions they were granted in the first instance.
Allied with that is the fact that increasingly, the jobs being created are service jobs and information technology oriented.
They generate very few jobs while yielding huge revenue to the shareholders. Meanwhile, technology is rapidly wiping out lots of jobs in every economy – from emerging economies to the most advanced and there is nothing the whole world can do about it. Two examples will illustrate the point.
Banking sector is shedding jobs faster than they can be created elsewhere and keen observers of the sector should be able to see it. First, the ATM reduced the need for tellers nationwide. At least 130,000 jobs were lost on this account alone and more are on the way.
Allied to the ATM is the widespread use of e-payment and the cashless economy. Again, more jobs are being erased everyday. It is estimated that a typical bank will need no more than 20 per cent of its current workforce to operate in less than 10 years from now.
Post offices worldwide and in Nigeria are also becoming major victims of technology among which are the e-mail, Facebook, twitter and other means of personal communications which get the message there faster and cheaper.
The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) can provide the official figures; but, whatever they are, they will most probably reveal the sharp drop in letters posted or registered, stamps purchased and vehicles needed to transport them.
Ten years ago, the NIPOST dreaded the Yuletide avalanche of greeting cards and other pieces of mail. Now, it wishes those halcyon days are back.
Now greetings are sent on the handset and few people even remember the location of the post office in their area. Since greeting cards account for a vast majority of the mail carried in the past by NIPOST, the decline in the use of cards had dealt a mortal blow to card manufacturers and most have quietly closed down.

RESPECT-4-RESPECT

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
=================

February 16, 2014

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin | City Center - As part of its effort to reduce discrimination, profiling, myths, criminalizing, murder and by-design Enduring Concentrated Poverty in the world, especially Milwaukee; the RESPECT-4-RESPECT campaign is launched.

African American babies, moms, dads, youth, young adults, relatives, seniors, elders make-up their immediate family.  The foster parents and guardians have stepped in to fill the voids caused by the social diseases that have separated family members.

It is important to note that even though our families have a history of being "separated", still we rise recognizing the importance of mom, grandmother, dad, sister, brother, grandfather, aunt, uncle and extended family [slaves sold on Auction blocks, men and women forced to separate from family during key childhood growth to work for a Caucasian owner; our men sent away, men, children and women made to work in the fields for sharecropping (misnamed) and as domestics (whenever needed) to take care of Caucasian families while their children go lacking; to work without wages or proper wages, benefits and social security not paid; separated during Jim Crow with bombings, beatings and castration of our men and killing of African American men - placed with weights on them and put in rivers and/or hung-from-a-tree; African American women were separated from their husbands and sought for the sexual pleasure of the Caucasian owners;  and young girls' virginity taken by Caucasian; separated when family members were sold separately as mother, father and child - depending on the desires of the Caucasian owner].

Today, it is the separation by double- and triple standards for selfish gains in the marketplace or targeted crimes for "misdemeanor" and "felony" crimes that disproportionately snag African American and other People of Color - Truth and Sentencing (heavy overuse and misuse).  The separation by wholesale criminalizing and decade stocking of mega prisons (industrial prison complex) in small Caucasian towns and cites to boost their economy.  Our men and women separated by many, many miles and family face difficulty to visit.

Then there are permanent separations caused by life sentencing (3 strikes you out drug crimes) and murders by homicides in the neighborhood by neighbors and by police. Separation of young males and females, men and women head of household (parents) have caused family "breaks", but no matter what, we stay connected.  Then, there are the false cases found false after decades of imprisonment.  I wonder how many of us are sitting in "prison" falsely convicted by those who failed to give "due process" because of bigotry and racism?  How many have been put to death that were innocent?

Recently, we see a new phenomenon"Stand your ground" law that has taken the life of two young African American males under 20.  They were murdered. We have gone too far.  Whether it is homicides at the census tract and neighborhood level by members of the same race or police.  Or, Caucasian stalking - vigilante - privileged thinking that is more and more a threat. This is not right.  We must stop it cold.  It has become a "sick addiction" by some.

RESPECT-4-RESPECT
Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC is gearing up for ongoing response to the "open season", predatory and growing threats of the man-made diseases that prompt hate, psychopathic and sociopathic behaviors, distrust, and privilege-thinking.

MPA LLC RESPECT-4-RESPECT CAMPAIGN
The word-of-mouth campaign will allow LIKE-MINDS to join in solidarity to prevent and turn-off the lawlessness, violence, shootings, brutality, murders and economic sabotage for response to the diseases of racism, bigotry, discrimination, intolerance, exploitation, bullying and by-design Enduring Concentrated Poverty.

Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC knows that we can do better, if we choose to.  This is your "Call to choose to".

Respect-4-Respect is another effort of AHOD/All Hands on Deck, WE CAN to re-definere-brand and UN-trap hidden talent and vetted businesses at the census tract and neighborhood level, especially African American and other People of Color.  These are the diverse populations that traditionally are burden with disparity and remain so far from deserved economics -  even though People of Color work and pursue the rights guaranteed under the law.  Even though they work two or more jobs to feed their families, pay their bills, plan to send their offsprings to college and the pursuit of happiness - Even though they are upright and law abiding - They remain with an infrastructure sub-level to what they put in the coffers.

Respect-4-Respect says, Enough already!

Respect-4-Respect says, Earth is the only planet known at this time a human can habitat for generations, it is wise that we get along.

Respect-4-Respect says, put yourself in the other person's place and see how you fair.

RESPECT-4-RESPECT says no one is Exempt.

Respect-4-Respect says, document criminalizing incidents with "Storytelling" and be sure to call names and give timeframes.

Respect-4-Respect says compete for a more aware and engaging neighborhood and world of ownership, citizenship, stewardship and accountability by ALL.

Respect-4-Respect says "put-in-check" inappropriate acts and remove those who fail to respect African American and other People of Color with "quickness" - this includes incarceration of elected-appointed-hired representatives, MEDIA pressure to print the ugly truth, use the tool of "recall" more often as well as joint and/or class-suits with "7-figure plus amounts attached".

Respect-4-Respect says tell the true stories so myths are corrected, rich and vibrant cultures are known and state-of-the-art wrongdoings are front and center for those who do not care, those in denial and those who do not know.

Respect-4-Respect says if you are a Caucasian Millennial that feel you have NO responsibility to what your forefathers did to enslave or your parent generation continued wrong to African American, you will need not only to "re-think your thesis" but you will need to benchmark your future with a leadership to correct the wrongs of "false and misguided" privilege behavior in the public square - this starts with not turning a blind-eye to wrongful acts that are unjust, how you treat African American and other People of Color and the vigorous change of LAWS that perpetuate racism.

Respect-4-Respect says African American and People of Color have a leadership, citizenship and stewardship role and responsibility that calls for honoring your history of leadership in America.  African American Born Frees and Millennials must be academic smart and technology savvy .  They must promote safety prevention and intervention, health wellness in your neighborhood, role-modeling, respect-for-self as well as others, dress code - acceptable public dress code, correct "in-public" language and decorum, civility, honoring your duty as a man, woman, child, practicing bringing NO shame to your family, keeping up neighborhood beauty, passing-on and using your African and American cultures, teaching the young with "by-positive example" and using religiously voting practices to send the message of accountability.

Law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress.

Health Care Talking Points – Medicare Beneficiaries and Cost

Health Care Talking Points – Medicare Beneficiaries

February 13, 2014
One of the reasons for forming a national health insurance opportunity was to curb cost while providing needed health care for millions of Americans that did not have insurance regardless to a reason given; i.e., lack of income to purchase and maintain insurance coverage, pre-disposition, adult students on parent (s) insurance.

On October 1, 2013 the initial coverage started.  On January 1, 2014, the full implementation of the Affordable Health Care law went into effect.  Today, Americans are more and more finding their way to insurance coverage.

What does that mean?
It means we have opened the door to opportunities and more responsibilities to working with the ups and downs that a NEW national insurance brings to the table.  It means all/ALL must do their share to help ensure that our country have HEALTHY PEOPLE.  It says, some will find fault and challenges while others will be gleeful and willing to take ownership in making their health and health care a reality.  If we continue the course of due diligence to correct issues that are target-rich, over time things will increasingly get better.  Patience.  Use of open-wide communication that is correct and when it is incorrect, correct quickly and move on.

The trend lines will vary depending on age, income, workers (full vs part-time), individual vs family and group policies on the market.  The population at-large will go through preparedness.  This too will vary depending on access to knowledge, internet access, customer care and assistance availability, communication of paperwork, accuracy of the information and then correction of information, timeframe of flow of information and of course, the Medicare budget and CMS/Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Centers care coordination and management that is theirs alone.  This ranges from access to Healthcare.org to once there is access, can the information be found easily and sign-up is as seamless as possible.  It means that the federally-assisted networks providing connectivity for states that chose not to provide the umbilical cord for life with Affordable Health Care law benefits and policies.

Beneficiaries
Here are some today thoughts for looking at some considerations for those who receive Medicare.

Discrimination
Income is a determinate and it is factored in health care payments.  This is drastically unfair for those who have been discriminated against and denied equal access to the benefits of employment, education attainment and improvements that are received from employment; i.e., benefits taken from wagers and wages while working in the marketplace.  Given the history of discrimination and stolen benefits from African American and other People of Color; the asset investment fund is null and void.

Turning a blind eye, engaging in segregation, exploitation and non-reporting is a chicken-coming-home-to-roost.  It turns out that millions are left-in-the-cold with very dismal amounts to garner health care – especially when African Americans have a long history in working in America and for long, long hours per day for Caucasians who by design took funds, failed to pay correct wages as they did for their like-kind.  Today, for there to be the necessary changes, this knowledge must be exclaimed to highest rooftops and mountains of Congress.

The Code of Conduct that has supported greed and wrongful fact that disallowed education attainment for better/best employment, the funds were stolen from African American and other People of Color wages (low and unequal wage to support family) and the wages that were not placed in the labor bank for Social Security must be vocalized as part of the solutions.   Casting blame and demonizing is out-of-order.

Truthful and strategic solution building is the prudent way to go.

This is very critical in the dialogue of today - It cannot be swept under the rug.   Lack of INCLUSION and WIDESPREAD “un- and under-employment” in the labor force coupled with low-no wages is still a growing concern to African American and other People of Color.  It must also be a solution concern for/of those in governing, budgeting and policy making.

The widespread discrimination is yet a factor for improved employment and introduction to higher paying jobs.  Therefore, the coming generations of African American and other People of Color will have similar if not worse seeking to gain the status of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.  For the coming generations, they will likely continue and the cost will no doubt be higher.  Not only must the policies be realistic but it must also seek ongoing opportunities that will curb and delete the disparity gap.

To set-up policies that disown the discriminatory and predatory policies in America that now put drastic and disproportionate rates between what Caucasian have in income (8x that of African American) and asset that include retirement and equity in homes again is night and day difference.

Social Security, home equity, and present income is ludicrous and inappropriate as an asset tool that is used in determining cost sharing and other budgeting issues.  Likewise, to try to demonize and penalize folk who have worked in environments of hostility, low wages, exploitation, lack of education attainment and sometimes brutality is insane and should be pointed out as loudly as possible.  It is important to note, African American and other People of Color, usually have two or more jobs (one or all part-time; one or more with a temp agency) and still can not make ends meet; and, do not have an increase in their labor bank or asset bank.

Since the formula for cost-sharing going forward looks at incomeequity and investment nest eggs (mutual fund benefits, 401k, etc.), federally-assisted exchanges and all exchanges should be out-front with communication, face-to-face dialog, encouragement and incentives to academic health networks, dialog when negotiating with insurers of the marketplace, and re-occurring dialog with the Department of Labor to ensure that the training is across the board for adding geriatrics to hospital and clinical rotations in academic training.  A boost in salary for geriatric care should also be one of the incentives for career selections.  Given the population care that will be needed now and in the decades to come, aging is one of the top allopathic and osteopathic services.

Budget and financing
• Medicare is 16% of the federal budget and rising as a share of the budget and the economy
• Medicare faces long-term financing challenges, with fewer workers to support retirees, and growing number of Medicare beneficiaries
Beneficiaries
• Beneficiaries incur relatively high out-of-pocket expenses as a share of income and household budgets (no limit on spending, dental, or long-term care)
• Medicare’s benefit structure is complex (traditional Medicare); unclear how well beneficiaries navigate private marketplace, but have many choices
Other challenges
• Improving care management and targeting interventions to beneficiaries with the greatest needs and highest costs
• Setting fair payments to plans and providers (e.g. the SGR/Sustainable Growth Rate)
Most people on Medicare are of modest means, and half lived on less than $23,500 in 2013
– A small share has high incomes
• Most people on Medicare have some savings and home equity, but the range of assets among beneficiaries is wide
– Half of all Medicare beneficiaries have less than $61,400 savings or less than $66,700 in home equity
• Income and assets are projected to be somewhat greater among the next generation
– Much of the growth is projected to be realized among the upper income and asset levels
