THOUGHTS ON “MURPHY’S LAW: WILL ANTI-STREETCAR REFERENDUM SUCCEED?”

Bruce Murphy
Sunday and REVIEW | Day 132 |  This is Saturday's comment shared by Mary Glass, Chair/CEO/CVO, Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC on Urban Milwaukee - Bruce Murphy's article -

Will Anti-Streetcar Referendum Succeed?

=====================

January 10, 2015
Dr. Martin L. King said, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”
I say young, old, millennial, men and women let’s go. You will be surprised at where you can go with hope, will, hit-the-street, handouts, social media, grace and RIGHT. The good news is you are working for you. Make it happen.
The Streetcar issue/spending is not a Transportation issue to benefit the Core Constituents of the city of Milwaukee that need, desperately need viable and real spending of the transportation funding to get them to employment opportunities and care facilities first and foremost. Good sense and charity begins at home then moves to tourists.
As far as defeating Mayor Tom Barrett, he is doing a great job of that himself. He has failed to represent the Core Constituents and they are just tired of that.
As far as Alderman Bob Bauman, he is hung up on the fact, “if we do not spend the funds, it will be given to other communities”. It should be given to others if they are going to benefit the constituents – that is not happening here. Alderman Bauman constituents, African American, other People of Color and the Work Challenged (west of downtown) are the ones he should be fighting for. You are just wrong here Alderman Bauman and we must persevere without you if you do not see the wrong in your judgment.
This is true for all the alderpersons who are hell-bent on spending the people’s money while they flounder economically. We must keep this alive and remember this in the “change of guard in 2016” – since Alderman Bauman reminded us it was not done in 2012.
This issue of working with Chris Kliesmet and Craig Peterson is seen by me as consolidating the base of Like-minds on an issue; and, working with individuals that share-our-views. This is done all the time as a strategy to win when seeking a large goal that benefits the People – All. it is reaching across the aisle.
As for the media, get started with grapevine, recruit, recruit outreachers and follow with social media – mpapublicpolicyreview.blogspot.com, Facebook, Next Door, Twitter and Tweets – the Winning hand.
Lastly, since time is of the essence, DO NOT spin your wheels in doom saying. Get busy. Give me an email jingle (mpapublicpolicyreview@gmail.com) so I can invite-bring others along.
Empowerment for Transportation for the People.

MC COLE Class B License denial is TAXATION w/OUT Representation

January 9, 2015
City Center Milwaukee | DAY 130 |  MC COLE, investor and property owner was denied a Class B License on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, after being Certified for six (6) months, July 5, 2014, and in appearing in FULL COMPLIANCE since October 20, 2014.

First Meeting
October 20, 2014, in FULL COMPLIANCE - city departments, with business plan and neighborhood support.

Without rationale, moral and legal reasoning, the application was "placed on hold" by Alderman Russell Stamper II claiming he needed to discuss with members of the neighborhood, namely Sharon Adams - Walnut Way before approval.

Alderman Stamper was disengenuous with the claim of speaking with the neighborhood, especially since he had MC COLE to come to a WAICO/YMCA meeting and he nor his assistant appeared NOR did he have MC COLE on the agenda.  Afterwhich, he failed to call and give reason for his outright fib.

Prior to that meeting, Alderman Stamper failed to tell MC COLE, but told Donald Lewis to attend the October 18, 2014 meeting.  Additionally, he refused for over 3 weeks to return calls and provide input.

Further investigations has disclosed behaviors of Alderman Russell Stamper II, Larry and Sharon Adams - Walnut Way, Sharon Adams (Walnut Way), Susan Eick (Legacy Redevelopment Corp), Jacqueline Ward and Board of BID #32, Virginia DuPriest - WAICO/YMCA and Tabernacle Baptist Church has engaged in behaviors that include:  intimidation, taxation without representation (use of government funding), the appearance of conflict of interest and breach of trust.

BID #32
BID #32 disenfranchisement and discrimination of MC COLE while receiving assessed taxes of $703.00 for 2013-2014 property taxes is just reprehensible.  MC COLE has also provided an undetermined BOND amount in the TID #44 for the Lindsay Heights area.

BID #32 is a city validated board-group put in place by Mayor Tom Barrett.

They deliberately chose to make a difference between MC COLE, Hammer's Den, 1810-1822 W. Fond du Lac and Donald Lewis, Urban Cafe, 2451 W. Fond du Lac.  They placed Urban Cafe on their monthly agenda as economic development but failed to reach out to MC COLE.

Additionally, Sharon Adam and Larry Adams have property, 1834-36 W. Fond du Lac located adjacent to MC COLE.  Therefore, they know he is there.

Sharon Adams, Walnut Way was the place of the first neighborhood meeting.  It was where there neighborhood, especially Virginia Dupriest, Richard Qualls and M. Sabir (Walnut Way staffer) attacked MC COLE - present was Alderman Russell Stamper II with a "sly grin". Dupriest, Qualls and Sabir were present on January 6, 2015 with undocumented truth and wild claims.

Ideology that lacks REASONABLENESS - Alderman Russell Stamper and Neighborhood Posse

Nothing in all world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.
Dr. Martin L. King, Jr.
January 7, 2015 - 10:30 pm EDITION
City Center Milwaukee | DAY 128 | city of Milwaukee License Committee, January 6, 2015 was an example of misguided and unbridled "lack of knowlege" that contributes to the Enduring Concentrated Poverty at the census tract and neighborhood level of the 15th District.

*******************************************
NINE MONTH elected Alderman Russell Stamper II has joined a group of vigilante individuals - Virginia DuPriest - President, WAICO YMCA, her uninformed Posse and Shirley Adams - Walnut Way (divisively working in the background) that have a twisted view of what can and can not be in the 15th District.

Their dishonest and authorative behavior was discovered along with the bizarre acts of Alderman Stamper during the last 3 months while MC COLE, investor and property owner, sought a Class B license for Hammer's Den at 1810-1822 W. Fond du Lac in Milwaukee.

1810-1822 W. Fond du Lac
MC COLE, Hammer's Den, has been Certified for the Class B license since July 5, 2014.
He was scheduled for the first time before the License Committee for the city of Milwaukee on October 20, 2014.  He was and remained in "full compliance".  He has provided:
  • All known CITY departments’ orders - verified by City Clerk staff on October 20, 2014.
  • Paid over $5,000 in 2013-2014 property taxes.  This included:
    • Paid $703.00 for assessment of BID #32 (Sharon Adams BID 32 board member).
    • Paid undetermined amount in Bond taxes for TID #44.
  • Invested over $90,000 in purchase and improvements of property.
  • Paid $1,100 in Class B License (held for months).
  • 3-Part business plan development - timeline originally 12 months (tavern, restaurant and two 2-bedroom apartments).
    • Project a minimum of 6 full-time jobs in first project – Tavern.
    • Project a minimum of 10 full-time jobs in first and second projects – Tavern & Restaurant.
    • Two-2 bedroom apartments - Housing.
  • Petition supporters include neighbors (17th & 18th Streets) and 19 Letters of Support – Tavern and Dart industry colleagues.
License Committee
On January 6, 2015 Alderman Russell Stamper denied the Class B license without cause.
These are his 3 reasons:
  1. Child care location - According to city verification, city clerk's office, as far back as October 20, 2014, the childcare was not an issue.
  2. Johnson Park development - "without merit" especially when dollars from property owner MC COLE will provide funding now and in the future for the public entity.
  3. Dictation of Restaurant - His attempt to dictate and coerce MC COLE to NOT open a tavern, instead just do a Soul Food restaurant goes against MC COLE's Constitutional rights, American law and his Oath of office.
His opening and conflicting statements at the License Committee meeting spoke to his lack of knowledge of his position as Alderman for ALL the constituents and economic development for the district.

Stamper revealed his insensitivity to MC COLE and those interested in INVESTMENT and EMPLOYMENT in the area to suggest that "MC COLE" should have done his homework before investing all the money he has in the property.

This was most disturbing since Stamper has FAILED repeatedly to answer telephone calls and meet with MC COLE as part of his responsibility and Oath of office.

"Perhaps Alderman Stamper thinks because he is African American and his family is known in Milwaukee, this type of discrimination will be tolerated, he is badly mistaken", said Mary Glass, consultant for MC COLE.

This is a discrimination case that points to many things that are inappropriate and can not be tolerated for the growth of District 15 and the city of Milwaukee.

Breach of Trust
Alderman Stamper has failed to honor his statements/promises, honor his Oath of office and to provide due process for ALL constituents and citizenry in the 15th District.  His bizarre and divisive behavior has included acts of coercion and appearance of Conflict of Interest.

It appears he is hell-bent on 2 years of being in office as the Alderman for the 15th District - that is, if he is not RECALLED before the 2016 election or enjoined by law enforcement.

Alderman Stamper's behavior as well as his posse is documented in:  LICENSE-gate.

Electorate
============================
ALDERMAN, DISTRICT 15
          Vote For 1
           Patricia Ruiz . . . . . . . . . 124 6.62
           Russell W. Stamper II . 728 38.85
           Eyon Biddle, Sr. . . . . . . . . 618 32.98
           Monique Taylor. . . . . . . . . 191 10.19
           Vera Davis . . . . . . . . . . 114 6.08
           WRITE-IN. . . . . . . . . . . 99 5.28
              Over Votes . . . . . . . . . 1
             Under Votes . . . . . . . . . 47

There are over 20,000 voters in the 15th District.  Stamper was elected with 728 votes.
For the candidates for 2016, if they are serious, they should be able to mount a campaign worthy of the 30,000 plus population of the 15th District.

The zip code 53206, District 15, is the famous zip code mentioned in the UW-Milwaukee report on Incarceration of males - Wisconsin’s Mass Incarceration of African American Males:
Workforce Challenges for 2013, Prepared by John Pawasarat and Lois M. Quinn, page 4.

Alienation of legitimate private businesses such as MC COLE and MONTE LOVE seeking to invest and be leaders in the neighborhood WITH false claims by Virginia DuPriest, Shirley Adam and staff member sends the wrong signal.  Also, coersive request to private investors by Alderman Stamper is legally prohibited.

Take a look at the video above.
MC COLE, Hammer's Den, 1810-1822 W. Fond du Lac is the clip you are watching.   He is right after Keith Terry.

MC COLE is seeking a Class B license.

Listen to the dialog from the neighborhood - 3 opposed, Mary Glass, MC Cole and Alderman Stamper.

Day of Service Month on behalf of dear brother King - Martin L. King, Jr.

January 7, 2015 - LATE EDITION
City Center Milwaukee | Day 128 | JANUARY is the month of Dr. Martin L. King Birthday.

                            January 15, 1929 is Dr. King's birthday.

At the White House Rose Garden on November 2, 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed a bill, proposed by Representative Katie Hall of Indiana (2nd from left), creating a federal holiday to honor King.  It was observed for the first time on January 20, 1986.
The bill established the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday Commission to oversee observance of the holiday, and Coretta Scott King (1st left), Martin Luther King Jr.'s wife, was made a member of this commission for life by President George H. W. Bush in May 1989.
Opposition
Dr.King's birthday is one of the national-federal holidays in America.  It is important to know and remember that his birthday was bitterly opposed by leaders in Congress to NOT become a "national holiday".  It was made a holiday in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan after an overwhelming vote of 300 - 90 margin in the House of Representatives.  President Reagan originally opposed Dr. King's holiday stating cost was the reason.  It took 32 years to become a law.

In 1968, shortly after Martin Luther King died, a campaign was started for his birthday to become a holiday to honor him. After the first bill was introduced, trade unions lead the campaign for the federal holiday. It was endorsed in 1976. Following support from the musician Stevie Wonder with his single "Happy Birthday" and a petition with six million signatures, the bill became law in 1983. Martin Luther King Day was first observed in 1986, although it was not observed in all states until the year 2000. In 1990, the Wyoming legislature designated Martin Luther King Jr/Wyoming Equality Day as a legal holiday.
Rep. John Conyers & Senator Edward Brooke (deceased)
United States Representative John Conyers (a Democrat from Michigan) and United States Senator Edward Brooke (a Republican from Massachusetts) introduced a bill in Congress to make King's birthday a national holiday. The bill first came to a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1979. However, it fell five votes short of the number needed for passage.0  Two of the main arguments mentioned by opponents were that a paid holiday for federal employees would be too expensive, and that a holiday to honor a private citizen would be contrary to longstanding tradition (King had never held public office). Only two other people have national holidays in the United States honoring them:  George Washington and Christopher Columbus.
L-R:  Senator John Porter East and Senator Jesse Helms (both deceased)
Senators Jesse Helms and John Porter East (both North Carolina Republicans) led opposition to the bill and questioned whether King was important enough to receive such an honor. Helms criticized King's opposition to the Vietnam War and accused him of espousing "action-oriented Marxism". Helms led a filibuster against the bill and on October 3, 1983, submitted a 300-page document to the Senate alleging that King had associations with communists. New York Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan declared the document a "packet of filth", threw it on the Senate floor and stomped on it.
************************************************
Martin Luther King was an important civil rights activist. He was a leader in the movement to end racial segregation in the United States. His most famous address was the "I Have A Dream" speech. He was an advocate of non-violent protest and became the youngest man to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He was assassinated in 1968.
DAY OF SERVICE
The national Martin Luther King Day of Service was started by former Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Harris Wofford and Atlanta Congressman John Lewis, who co-authored the King Holiday and Service Act. The federal legislation challenges Americans to transform the King Holiday into a day of citizen action volunteer service in honor of Dr. King. The federal legislation was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on August 23, 1994. Since 1996, Wofford's former state office director, Todd Bernstein, has been directing the annual Greater Philadelphia King Day of Service, the largest event in the nation honoring Dr. King.

MPA LLC 2015 Body of Work - Stewardship and Leadership

ALL HANDS ON DECK - WE CAN
CITY CENTER MILWAUKEE | Day 123 | Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC has designed this year's All Hands on Deck, WE CAN Initiative to bring together engagement for Core Constituents of Milwaukee, the population of Milwaukee, that speaks to "work" and "workers".  Knowledge and DNA of the Core Constituents is a must for this year's Resolutions.

"We work in the octave of FAITH", said Mary Glass - Founder of MPA LLC.

Public Policy - Core Constituents
The subject matter takes on the People's "LIVELY" energy in the marketplace and "haute couture" expectations at the census tract level for drastic changes for impacting Enduring Concentrated Poverty.  MPA LLC will lead with galvanizing bulldozing areas of despair, complacency and arrogance with needed accountability that is found in STEWARDSHIP and LEADERSHIP - two of the 10 principles selected by MPA LLC in 2014.

The seven (7) prinicples of Kwanzaa, in Faith/Imani, will guide and give meaning to the 2015 focus on Stewardship and Leadership.

Stewardship speaks to:

  • UMOJA  - To strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race.
  • UJIMA - (Collective Work and Responsibility): To build and maintain our community together and make our brothers' and sisters' problems our problems, and to solve them together.
Leadership speaks to:
  • Kujichagulia (Self-Determination): To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves, and speak for ourselves
  • Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics): To build and maintain our own stores, shops, and other businesses and to profit from them together.
  • Nia (Purpose): To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.
  • Kuumba (Creativity): To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.

Our People, Core Constituents, Milwaukeeans, THEIR LIFESTYLES are the priority.

Heavy Hitters
We will work with leaders in various arenas of transportation, IRS, law and order, social justice, U.S. Justice, regional strategic planning, information technology, immigration and think tanks to garner national, state and local perspectatives.
