Social Media & Gun Control - Facebook & Instagram March, 2014
“Responsible social media sites know that it is in no one’s interest for their sites to become a 21st-century black market in dangerous and illegal goods that place our families and communities at risk,” New York State Attorney General General Eric T. Schneiderman said at a press conference on Wednesday.
WORLD | Silicon Valley - On March 5, 2014, Facebook and Instagram (owned by Facebook) announced a crackdown on the use of their sites in the solicitation of guns - online shopping for guns and without in-place regulations followed. The sale of illegal weapons on the internet is one of the most used avenues of purchase, especially by under-age purchasers and individuals with questionable motives.
